Yea I remember the attack. I have used RAR's from day one though.
Only reason why RAR's might not be a good idea is the reason you can see on that first link. A few users might not be familiar of the external compression programs (as Windows only knows how to deal with ZIP's). This is the first time though that I have seen when someone has raised a question about it here.
RAR is as safe as ZIP can be what comes to the security. Compression method is irrelevant issue when it comes to that attack we had here way back.
If Mod's want that I go for ZIP's instead I'm fine with that. Only thing that will change for me is that the file sizes will be much bigger.
