Extracting original files

Hi there

Is there any way to extract graphics files from the dat? I know it has been asked already in some old thread but unfortunately the answer was "don't know and you don't need to". We would like to use some of the UI graphics to create desktop backgrounds and other stuff using the original game UI as templates but didn't find any method or tool on the internet to extract files from the packed datafiles of Lotro.
