Vault: Icon Highlight
Bug #: 61
File: Eclipse UI
Date: 12-06-2011 01:28 PM
By: Modnar
Status: Wont fix
When you drag & drop an item from inventory into your vault, there is no highlight (border) around the item. While it's not critical, it is needed at times to determine where an item went.

Ok, I got it now.
Answer quoted from your thread:

"While the vault's item highlighting indeed barely visible in Eclipse UI, it exists (on your attached sample, the first slot's 1 pixel bottom line is slightly brighter, still undetectable). The graphic is the same used in the Social listings (those thin separators), for example. If I brighten or thicken it for the sake of the vault, it will affect other highlights in the UI, so I do not intend to change at this point."

Apparently I was not clear. This affects the Vault and Shared Storage (not the Wardrobe) - while in icon only mode. The "highlight" I am talking about is a box / border that appears around the item's icon. I believe it might be one of the "icon_selected_overlay.tga" images, but cannot be sure. (However, I did notice that Eclipse/vault folder has no such images.)

Whenever you move items within these Panels by drag & drop, this highlighting lets you know which item was last active. As you mention, items appear in the next available slot... unless you have multiple stacks.

Say there are 2 stacks of the same item total. You drag & drop all of these to one chest tab. Everything is fine because they all go into the same chest, placed in the next free slot.

But if you drag the first stack to chest 1, and the second stack to chest 2, the game assumes you have made a mistake and moves the second stack to chest 1, into the first free slot (it does this to help you keep things organized). You have to drag and drop the second stack to chest 2 again for the game client to place the second stack in chest 2, in the first available slot.

In a situation like this. without the highlighting, the user has no way to know where an item ended up.

If you crafted several stacks of food and were trying to spread it among all your characters, and did not pay attention (because there was no highlighting), all of the food would end up with the first character. This is why the highlighting needs to be corrected.

Can't add highlight. In the vault, the dragged item always placed in the next slot available.
