Vista?!?

Hi guys,

I got a friend who just got a new computer. It came with Vista on it. Is there a different way to install UI on a vista machine? She has the skin in the my doc/LOTRO/ui/skins folder. But it is not appearing as a selection in-game. I know the skin works, I am running it on my XP machine for my char. If anyone has any tips please let me know. I am stumped

Works the same way. At least it did for me without doing anything different.

It's weird because I sent her the same exact skin that I am using on my computer. I sent it complete with a UI folder, and a skin folder, then my skin put in there. It should work, but we cannot figure it out.

It's not

My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins

it's

Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins

So the entire path would be

C:\Users\USERNAMEGOESHERE\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins

Or, a better idea:

Open the launcher, click the first down arrow button

click "Explore Screenshots Folder", and it will take you to The Lord fo the Rings Online folder. Just make a folder called ui there.

Didn't you notice that there WAS no "My Documents" folder? Just a "Documents" folder?

I had her take a screen shot: As far as I can tell it is in the right place, but she still cannot get it to work ingame. Inside the UI folder there is a folder called skins, and in that is the UI.

That looks like capital U on UI should be ui/skins no capitol letters.
Cant remember where I read that vista has problem detecting the ui folder when the folder letters are capitol.test it and see.
meantime I dig around where i found the post.

I will have her test it tonight. I will post my results. Weird that Vista cant recgonise a capital letter.

I still can't find the post for vista problems on the official forums.
i removed the tip about running in administrator,found out that the game wont run on it.

Now that I think about it,did she use winrar or winzip to extract the files?
If she doesnt have any those programs she ca download a free zip @
