Cool install scripting ?

I've been using several uimods now, at least one per played char ... that makes about 9 at the moment. Extracting them directly to the ui map.
Sure this works great.

Just one thing, there are more and more stand alone mods like the crafting, mail & dressing room ones that come seperatly, more like add-on' s.

I was wondering if someone could cook up some script or even better a vb program to insert those add-on mods into existing uimods.

In the haydays of Dark Age of Camelot I had Derida's ui, lately dubbed Bob's ui. It was completely scripted to install with all various options the ui was enriched with. Basicly, they compile a custom def file on the spot. Reckon this could be done with Lotro ui mods as well ?

lotrointerface.com doesn't approve .exe type kind of files included in the packages any longer.

that's why i am using batch scripts myself not that i would know how to code more complicated one hehe

Oh dammit. I spent ages writing a vb.net program to compile my ui so users can select elements and I can't post it? *sighs* Well, I can understand the reasoning.

I hope it's not against the EULA but you can publish it with a false extension and the knowledgeable user would know how to add the right extension as such helping them

The reason we shouldn't be using .exe inside our ui or the ui itself is cause by a major incident in 2007,we had a virus/Trojan out break in here and wowinterface.

Since then we have no problem at all anymore.

Now if you making a utility based on.net program,I believe those can be posted under the utilites section on the forums.

I don't know if .bat are a no no.

Cairren:
Can we use .bat in our UI?

Cairenn could you verify what we can use ?

I am strongly supporting batch scripts (.bat, .cmd) at least as users don't have to run them if they don't want to and they can always look into the code if they are suspicious.

We will accept .bat files. Under certain very specific circumstances we will occasionally allow .exe files, but we really prefer not to. If you are wanting to upload some form of executable other than .bat, you'd be best to talk to either Dolby or myself directly about it first, via PM.
