Chat analyzer

I don't know if this is possible but it would be a lovely plugin.

When playing in the moors, I play a lot as a warg at the moment, the one thing that bothers me most and that is really easy to miss in the heat of combat is when you're being tracked. Currently it's just a message in the chat-window and that chatwindow can move pretty fast in some situations. So that notice is very easy to miss.

Would it be possible to make a plugin that analyzes the chat-window for specific strings of text and then gives the player a popup (preferably with an editable message)?

This could have several other uses as well as long as you made it a very generic, simple plugin.

Lua has no access to reading the chat window so this is not currently possible.

What I do for this is to create a new chat tab, filter it to only Standard, then change the font color and size for Standard chat and finally, pull the tab out of the chat box and put it above the regular chat. Unfortunately there is no way to turn off the loot spew that goes there so it kind of sux when someone is looting NPC corpses while you're busy fighting, but it still works fairly well.

Wouldn't it be possible to use the log-function to then have an external application analyse that chatlog? Much like that combat-analysis plugin.

Yes, but many people are not keen on having an external application running - so possible, but not easy.
