Cant install any UI
Hello,
i just started playing lotro again after years. So, im trying install some uis but i can not. When i select a skin all the colors from the uis remove and some "grey boxes" show like this.. So anyone got any idea why that happen? |
The grey boxes appear when files are missing. This most likely means you have somehow installed the skin in a wrong way (haven't extracted all the files in their designated places for example).
Make sure all the files from the skin you're trying to use are extracted as the skin author has instructed. Generally you have to extract the files in

hey thanks for the answer.
Well i deleted the ui and tried to extracted again but same thing the path is double checked So i guess i have done it right |
seems correct. something still must be amiss. this happens with every skin you've tried ? which skins specifically ?
|
every skin i tried atm i have LM by you and yours but both doesnt want to work :<
|
Alright. Then I know the skins you're trying should work properly.
The current downloadables I have uploaded are compressed with RAR (not ZIP any longer). In some cases the the extracting software might be outdated and corrupt the files. Try using the latest WinRAR for example (http://www.rarlab.com/). |
ok i donwloaded a new winrar ver but same problem.
i will try later install a ui on my desktop and see if i willg et same results |
Ok i found what was the problem
This might sound funny but i got an answer after searching at google finding an old post of me here at this forum(3.5years ago..), about the exactly problem this one At my laptop i got windows Greek edition and for some reason Lotro doesnt load the ui corrently so i have to rename the systems files(my documents) to english. |
Hmmm, so that was the reason why I couldn't use skin...LoL... Greece rules not! :P
|
Hahah good thing you happened to found out your own old post :D because I haven't heard about that bug before, and oddly enough it still exists even that Frosty have answered the thread years ago.

I have another scenario for you. I just started playing and want to install addons. I followed the instructions on the addon site to no prevail. Then i saw your post. Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\UI\Skins\ does not exist on my computer..... I went as far as Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online ............ In that folder there is two files..... lotro.keymap and UserPreferences.ini. I chose the option to "Show Hidden Files" and still just these two files only. Then i searced the whole computer for a folder named "Plugins". Nothing... Please help me find this folder. I am up for remote access if your into that. |
You need to create MyDoc\Lotro\UI\Skins\ and MyDoc\Lotro\Plugins\ directories yourself. they aren't created by the client.
