Because of the limitations on Bottom Bar size, an idea I had to create a full "skin" for the bottom of the screen to incorporate Chat Window(s) is "near" impossible. However, a "Cradle" could be done where a Chat Window would be partially incorporated into the Bottom Bar skin appearing to be "Cradled" by the graphic.

My question is, which side of the screen would the majority of users prefer their Chat Window on? Of course, System & Bag Buttons can be removed to create an effect on both sides of the Bars, but in the interest of having multiple version to suit peoples individual preferences, what would be the "popular" choice to start? I'm thinking removing Bag Buttons and doing the right side first...since it's the easiest to live without, since "I" hotkeys the bags. Thoughts?

You missed an option:

"Both sides"

I run with my "chat" on one side of the screen and my "combat" on the other.

At the moment I use 3 separate chat windows. One bottom left, bottom center and bottom right. The bottom left one has extra tabs for not so important text. Just wish I could move the bottom bar above my chat windows.

I'm closer to Cairenn on mine as well. I use a bottom-left for Main / Misc stuff / Tabs... one next to that for Combat and one on the right of my hotbars for actual chat.

I tend to keep the Chat (+IM) on the left hand side as close to the Left and bottom as possible, with a thin Combat sat above it. The other side i have Player, target, pet and friendship bars; This in my mind leaves most of the upper part of the screen uncluttered.

I use my OOC/Say chat on the left and my Raid/Fellowship/Kinship chat on the right. This way, when I am trying to read what my kinsmen are saying, the OOC chat is not bumping it up.
