Description
.
Extended and enhanced panels
And choose between default or less store buttons

Introduction :

Here is a collection of extended and enhanced panels codes gathered in two skindefinition files :

- The first one offers the E&E panels with the default ingame store buttons.
- The second one removes some of the most annoying/intrusive store buttons.

These custom panels are designed for high resolution screens (resolutions below 1024X768 are not supported, 1440X900 or higher is highly recommended).

These panel customizations are included by default in all the skins figuring in JRR Skins Collection.

This release can be used as well as a skin to enjoy convenient enhancements within lotro's default themes (as a hero or as a monster player) or as well as a skin developing resource.
After installation and ingame selection of the skin on your character, you have to logout and relog to enjoy the new panels settings.

Step by step installation :

  • Download to your desktop the zip file hosted on this page.
  • Unpack) it (using windows right clicking unzipping embedded function, or with a dedicated software as 7zip (free software), Winzip, or Winrar...).
  • Once the zip file is unpacked on your desktop, check if the new created folder is called "ExtendedEnhancedPanels" or "ExtendedEnhancedPanels *something more*".
if it is the longer name, double left click on it to enter the folder then you should be facing the right "ExtendedEnhancedPanels" folder.
  • Copy (or cut) it, then paste it in your ..\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins\ folder.
Tipycally, on windows vista and seven it looks like C:\ User(s) \ your account name \ documents \ The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins\
on Windows XP, it should look like C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins\
If ui and/or skins (don't forget the *s*) folders don't exist, then create it, and then copy in it the ExtendedEnhancedPanels folder.
  • Now, the skin will be available in Lotro the next time run it !
  • To allocate the skin to one of your characters, log him/her, then open the ingame option panel ( *O* key)
--> select UI settings tab --> go to "user current skin" and use the scrollable selection box to select Enhanced Panels.
  • To apply the new panel settings you have to log off then relog your character.

Featured enhancements and credits :

- A dressing room by Brygard, modified a first time by Jack, then by Adra.
- Numerical PVP rank icons & vitals pvp rank display fix, by Adra.
- A Larger Auction Panel, by Thrashfinger, modified by Wicky71 and Adra to fix localization issues.
- Transparent map tracker, by Hazado.
- Extended Mail and vendor parts from "Firefern's Crafting, Vendor and Dressing Room" by Mirarkitty.
- Extended Barter by The Old One, modified by Adra.
- Map window from Eclipse UI, by Eclipse. The map is smaller, but in fact, it is displayed at its actual size, this means no more zooming blur !
- Custom Saruman rings, by Adra. (with a Photoshop file to make your own if you want to)
- Extended Crafting Panel by Adra.
- Taller Legacy Extraction panel from UiBuilder by The Old One, modified by Adra in order to display the 7th legacy.
- Extended legendary item dismantling result window, by Adra.
- Mainly based on Elwe's No Store Button, some of the most intrusive lotro store buttons have been disabled within various UI panels. (I left, by choice, the main skill bar store button active).
- Extended master loot panel and need/greed/pass panel which allows to display 20 items instead of 10, by Eric Led, updated by Adra.
- Taller Panel displayed when applying an item (scroll, crystal, xp...) on a legendary Item. Now displays 8 legendary items instead of 6 by default. By Adra.
- Compact connection Status icon. Now you can stick it to the left of your screen or to the right of an UI element. By Adra.
- Taller enemies tracking panel. Now displays 20 names at once instead of 8 by default. By Adra.
- Extended inspect panel.

. . . Store buttons removed, on the dedicated profile :
  • Character panel : Equipment tab (enhance) & Appearance tab (buy outfits) buttons
  • Wallet
  • "circle" virtues panel : The "buy virtue +1" overlay icon is set invisible but still functional.
  • Destiny barter
  • Crafting panel : buy recipes / buy mats / accelerate buttons
  • Relic Master panel

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) :

- How do I uninstall a skin from my computer ?
Simply delete the skin folder you had previously copied onto your from your hard drive (I mean in ...Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins\ folder), that's all.

- The map is no more fullscreen !
This is not a bug, this is a skinning choice, it is really convenient in some situations, and on multi screen systems.
Indeed the map is displayed at its actual size, without the zooming blur.

How can I restore the fullscreen map ?
Use a text editor software (as Windows notepad) to open the skindefinition.xml file located in the folder of the theme you want to tweak, then look for these lines (you can use Control F) and delete them :
Code:
<PanelFile ID="ID_UISkin_MapPanel">
<Element ID="MapBackground" X="0" Y="0" Width="1024" Height="768"> </Element>
</PanelFile>
then save changes in the file than relaunch lotro.

Can I tweak the size and/or location of the windowed map ?
Technically, you can edit the skindefinition.xml file and manually change the size width and height of the map, but it's NOT intended to be done, because it can fail to load the skin in case of unrecognized values or more probably lead to report wrong coordinates when hovering the map with your mouse cursor. This is what occurred when I tested it, a few years ago.
Changing the location of the map on the screen seemed not possible.

- My character doesn't show in the dressroom !
JRR skins doesn't supports resolutions with a height below 768 pixels.
If you run Lotro with a resolution height equal to 768, you have to play in fullscreen mode to get the dressroom correctly displaying the character.
Higher resolutions allow to play indifferently in fullscreen or windowed modes.

- The auction house panel is too big !
Your screen resolution is too low ! ^^
If you run Lotro with a resolution height equal to 768, you have to play in fullscreen mode to get the auction house panel entirely displayed and usable.
Higher resolutions allow to play indifferently in fullscreen or windowed modes.

Release notes :
Code:
v25.1

Fixed location of the outfit panels incompatibility overlay icons.

v25

I reorganized the icons from the character panel's outfits tab.
I failed to guess the name of the runekeeper's satchel show/hide button, as it is not documented in U25 skinning pack.
So it remains to its default location and is not well aligned yet to the satchel icon bottom.

I also had a look at the extended master loot window and even tried to put it to 28 (7 lines x 4 columns) chest slots.
I used the most recent code source from the U25 skinning pack update. (However it seems this code is the same than previous).
Unfortunately, it failed to solve the current issue displaying only 10+1 slots.

v.7.23.4

- Fixed "buy more mithril coins" button location on the barter panel.
- Fixed the location of the text and the select button for the 8th cosmetic equipment in the inspect panel

This update consists only in a rebalancing of this panel to move properly these buttons at the bottom of the panel.
Thanks to Andvarion, ScottK and Osdor for taking me aware about this issue and about its solving from Siloren.
A special big thank to Siloren (software engineer in Standing Stones Games) for working and communicating about the panel code entries which made this fix possible.

v.5.17

- Fixed a minor display issue in vital portraits. The first letter of certain very long name targets was hidden.

v.4.16

- Added : Taller Panel displayed when applying an item (scroll, crystal, xp...) on a legendary Item. Now displays 8 LI instead of 6 by default.
- Added : Compact connection Status icon. Now you can stick it to the left of your screen or to the right of an UI element.

v.3.4d

Hotfix : the game was unable to read the new name in v3.4c, this is now fixed ! :o

v.3.4c

- First attempt to add LotrOnion support ^^
  • LotrOnion is a MMOUI Minion plugin which allows you to update in one click all your previously installed lotro plugins !
  • The Zip file internal "path finder" folder structure has been removed to support LotrOnion requirements.
  • Installation : Download and install this release as usual. Future updates will be supported through LotrOnion. (manual updates will be of course still supported !).
  • Since I changed the installation folder's name, please delete any previous installation folder (called "extended panels xx") to avoid old version still featured ingame in skin choice list.
- The update version number isn't not mentioned any more in the ingame selection menu's skin name. - Instance finder panel customizations are disabled for full Rise of Rohan expansion beta support. v.3.4b - Updated the wallet code. v.3.4 - I Re-organised the virtues positions on the "circle" virtues panel. (it occurred only if vital bar scale wasn't set to 1.0) v.2.3 - Added JRR's extended quest panel. - Added JRR's numerical PVP rank icons & vitals pvp rank display fix. - Auction panel reworked to fix german (fix by Wicky71) and french issues, also fixes the bottom border issue. v.2.2 Update 6 release - Just removed the outdated "extended skirmish" panel. v.2.0 This version 2 can be considered as well as a skin maker starting base as well as a ready-to-use skin dedicated to enhance Lotro's default theme. - The dressing room has been updated a bit. Added components : - Transparent map tracker by Hazado - Larger Auction Panel v2.0.6 by Thrashfinger - Mail and vendor parts from "Firefern's Crafting, Vendor and Dressing Room" by Mirarkitty - VirtuesOrganized by Artificeren. - Map window from Eclipse UI, by Eclipse aka Shivega. - Custom Saruman rings, with a photoshop file to make your own if you want to. - Virtues Organized by artificeren v.1.0 - This Extended barter version doesn't cut any more the last displayed object, page up and down are moved to the right bottom to avoid trading with a missed click. - This Extended skirmish version doesn't cut the last displayed destination.

@Xaemyl

Hi, there is no more tweak for the quest panel since version 7.23.2 as it has been made resizable in game by default.

The extended loot window is broken as far as I know, but there is nothing I can do until they release the new "source code" for this panel.

This is amazing! Everything except the extended quest panel (on both store and without store buttons) seems to work just fine.

Thank you

Thank you for the response. Both the previous answers were helpful. I'll try to carefully edit the file. I always save the original and edit the copy, so if it messes up something or fails to load properly, I can always revert back to the original file.

@Arminya, see this post from Adra in 2015. Apparently, your only options are fullscreen and 1024x768. Other scaling options don't seem to work.

Quote:
@Urwendil

Hi,

In order to restore the fullscreen map, you have to manually edit the skindefinition.xml file located there :

...\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins\Extended panels V3\_SkinDefinition\skindefinition.xml

or

...\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins\ExtendedEnhancedPanels\_SkinDefini tion with less store buttons\skindefinition.xml

depending if you use E&E Panels with all or less store buttons option.

Open it with Notepad or any other text editor, then delete these lines (located at the half of the document) :

<!-- Map Window, by Eclipse -->
<PanelFile ID="ID_UISkin_MapPanel">
<Element ID="MapBackground" X="0" Y="0" Width="1024" Height="768"> </Element>
</PanelFile>
<!-- End of Map Window -->

Don't forget to save the file, still on .xml file format.

At the next lotro launch, the map will be restored to fullscreen.

Map Window Size Adjustment?

I've just installed your skin to try it out. My main desire was all the larger windows, but I found the in-game Map to be a little small in its window form. Is it possible to adjust the Map Window size? If there's not an option for it, I'm not afraid of editing a file to make it happen I just don't know which file to edit. I'd appreciate your help/feedback if you can.

Thanks for the skin!!

Thumbs up Restarting Client Worked

Well, I suppose "I'll be damned, you're right" is the only reasonable response I have. I thought I tried everything, including restarting the client, but I just tried again and it worked. Open mouth, insert foot I guess. I'm the same person that gets aggravated with people who ask for tech help without rebooting their phone or computer first.

I'm trying to use this skin. I believe it's installed in the correct place because I see the skins in the dropdown list in the game, but selecting them doesn't seem to do anything. My map is still full screen.

@Myrthian

Hi, yes I will update the JRR skins with this new feature, but I have no date.

I'm waiting a bit beacuse I left a message 5 days ago on the lotro forum concerning the master loot window, but I didn't get any answer yet.
http://www.lotro.com/forums/showthre...52#post7986152

I also wanted to move the speaker icon on the fellowship vital, but it seems the source code for this panel is missing from the skinning pack.

Will you also update JRR skins with the newest update of this addon?

And thanks for the expanded loot window: it seems to finally show more than those 11 items.

Skinning can only change the appearance of the user UI and cannot add/change any game feature/mechanics. The ingame map is not intended to be moved on the fly and is not intended to begin to fill the screen elesewhere than from its top left corner.

You can edit the skindefinition.xml file to change the static location of the map window BUT it will induce the mouse coordinates reported when the hovering the map will be wrong.

For a less oldish and crappy map ask to the Lotro developers of Lotro or maybe use a plugin such as moorMap.
thank you for your answer and explanation. I thought using skin ui could make unlock maps to be freely movable

I use your ui (skin ui) customization especially suited to the reduced map as much as I mind is the inability to move the map to another location on the screen, docked in the upper left corner. couldn't you do anything about it? I mean the unlock maps to move to another place
