Category: Outdated LotRO InterfacesThe Last Alliance (1680 x 1050) |
This is a fairly minimalistic skin, focusing on clarity over art.
It is set up for a 1680 x 1050 resolution. Other authors are welcome to create versions for other resolutions.
It's Skindefinition.xml file is well organized, so the UI also serves as a good starting point for others who wish to try their hand at making their own UI. It may help to set it's font to Fixedsys and turn off Word Wrap when viewing the XML.
If this is your first custom UI install:
Open your "My Documents" folder.
Open the "The Lord of the Rings Online" folder.
Create a new folder named "UI", and open it.
Create a new folder named Skins.
Extract "The Last Alliance" into Skins.
Log into the game, and select the skin on the UI Settings screen.
It'll show up garbled that first time, but relog and it should be fine.

Are you putting the UI folder in your Lord of the Rings document folder? Because in order for these skins to work you have to make a UI folder in the Lord of the Rings document folder and then make another folder in the UI folder named Skins. After that you can download the skin and put the folder in the Skins folder. I think I explained that right. lol
However, it seems this skin has not been updated in awhile. The UI skins have to be updated by their authors when new content comes out (aka Free 2 Play) because the new content usually changes some element of the UI or not.
Hope this helps!

Love it, however...
I love this UI as it's cleaned up my screen. However, the toolbar slots are invisible and have located themselves up in the vicinity of the upper right of my screen. In addition, the icons on the pop-up menu (Character, Inventory, etc) are all distorted and weird-looking. Would this be a reaction to SOM perhaps?

Is it just me, or do these skins not include the layout, so nothing is where it should be?

Seeing your UI and playing at 1280x1024 I really wanted to get it working, so I have already done some of the legwork for you Thanatos!
I have a SkinDefinition.xml file with all of your original positions shifted to 1280x1024. Since your UI is "light" on texture art positions, it is VERY easy to adjust to any screen resolution.
Here it is:

Note: I did move the auto-attack section inward, but I am currently running with it on the other side of the toolbar to accommodate my chat. However, I have an originally modified SkinDefinition and the most current one I use.
If you like what you see in the image, I can email you the SkinDefinition to test, or even start something on my own if that is easier.

I could try, but I'd be flying blind as far as getting the coordinates right. I have a widescreen flat-panel monitor, so anything but it's native resolution comes out distorted.
I could also make a version where the elements positioned in the XML are put in the upper left corner of the screen, and that should adapt to any resolution, since you have to place the other elements by hand anyway.
