Predict In Game Time

Description
Version 2.2 (November 20, 2011)

New in v2.2
* Added Alarm Reset button! woot! Now, you can quickly reset the alarm to run again with only one click!!!
* Fixed a small bug due to daylight savings turning on

Purpose:
This is a tool for people (especially role-players) to be able to schedule an event/party that relies on the time-of-day in-game. Users can also use it to help with in-game time dependent quests.

What it does:
It’s best just to show you…
http://www.axiomfiles.com/Files/2692..._jpg_small.jpg
The first section (green area) displays the current real-life time and the current in-game time.

The second section (yellow area) displays all occurrences of your desired in-game time (in this case, Dawn) during your desired day (today, day=0). You can change your desired in-game time to Gloaming or Midnight or whatever by clicking the red/gold button. You can change your desired real-life day by changing the green text to 1 (tomorrow), 2 (the day after), etc. The output (2:19am, 5:25am, etc) adjusts for your timezone as well as daylight savings time. Also in this section is the Alarm button (set to "None" in the screenshot). You can change the alarm to 60, 30, 15, 10, 5, or 1 minutes before the start of your desired in-game time (in this case, Dawn). Or, you can change the alarm to 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes from now. To change the alarm, just click on the red/gold Alarm button. A window will pop-up in the middle of your screen when the alarm is triggered.

The third section (purple area) shows what the in-game time will be at the user-specified real-life time. Just change the green text to find out what the in-game time will be.

By clicking the "Min" button at the top right (red circle), the Minimal display appears, showing the current real-life time (3:57pm), the current in-game time (Afternoon), the upcoming in-game time (Dusk), and the approx amount of minutes (11min) until the next in-game time. The Minimal display is originally displayed at the top left of your screen, but you can move it to anywhere on the screen (like next to the minimap) by CTRL+\ and dragging. The location of Minimal display is remembered for the next time your character loads PigT. To hide the Minimal display, just click the "Min" button again.

Cool little feature: all elements of PigT will disappear along with the rest of your UI when you press the F12 button.

If ever the plugin is not functioning correctly, just click the "Help" button at the bottom left.

Other Tools:
* Move the Minimal display with CTRL+\
* Click the Minimal Display (or type /pigt) to show/hide the main window
* Options menu (not pictured) at the bottom right of plugin:
- show/hide main window on startup
- 24hr clock option
- customizable timezone
* Alarms menu (not pictured) at bottom center of plugin:
- top of alarm menu shows alarm info from main PigT window (yellow area in the picture)
- bottom of alarm menu shows the user defined alarm. Set days, hours, minutes, and alarm message and click SAVE.
- To quickly reset the alarm, simply click the Alarm Reset button.

How to download:
You want to extract the files to C:\Program Files\The Lord of the Rings Online \Plugins
If you don’t have a Plugins folder, you will need to create it.
In your chat window, type: /plugins load predictingametime
To open/close the main window, click the Minimal display or type: /pigt

Features:
Simple design allows for ease of use.
Accurate to within 1 RL minute due to rounding error.
Accepts negative numbers in case you wanted to know what time it was in-game, say, 3 RL weeks ago.

Disclaimers:
(1) Previous versions of PigT required users to update the plugin after every server downtime. With v2.0, the plugin updates itself. In the unfortunate event that the plugin is not accurate, users can find and update to the latest and most accurate information by clicking the "Help" button at the bottom left of the plugin and going to http://my.lotro.com/scrappythegreat/...-time-updater/
(2) Version 2.1 allows user customizable time zones. Programming that was a monumental task, and I might have missed a bug or two. All of my testing shows that it works, but if you see any bugs please be sure to let me know!

Thanks for using my plugin.

table of IG to RL times off by an hour

This is a great add-on, but the table of in-game to RL times is off by an hour for me (it is 1 hour behind the correct times).

The Current RL time is correct and the prediction (e.g. Dawn will occur in approx...) is correct, and so is the prediction for what the IG time will be in d/h/m. Just the table is off by an hour.

My time zone is PST (Pacific) and it is correctly displayed as -8GMT (from your code it looks like it might want to be "Pacific U.S." though).

I never thought to see if you ever did an updated version. I feel rather silly.

I have loved this plugin since you first responded to me, that roleplayer asking for such a thing. *smiles*

Now I have to let everyone know that there's an update. I bet most of them will say, "You didn't know? You're the one who told me about that plugin."

*chuckles*

Blackrat:
Your saved PigT options file got corrupted somehow. Perform the following steps to reset your options file:
(1) Go to your The Lord of the Rings Online/PluginData folder and find the folder associated with your affected characters.
(2) Delete the file named 'pigt_opts.plugindata'
(3) Open up Lotro and enjoy!

LastSong:
Sorry about the negative number. The different timezone thing is tough for me to test... i have to 'simulate' that i'm in a different timezone which opens up a can of worms sometimes.

I will get a fix in for this, but I don't know when.

Thanks,
Scrappy

Displayed time becomes the negative number

Displayed time becomes the negative number(Screenshot)

Indication may become the negative number at time when I set a local time zone with the difference in time

Re: Unable to load predictingametime

I'm sorry you can't get PigT to load. Here are a couple ideas..

Idea #1
Make sure you extract the zip file to the following location (use the <name> of your computer)...
C:\Users\<name>\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\Plugins
That's the location on my Vista computer. The Windows7 location should be pretty much the same.

Idea #2
I suggest using a Plugin Manager, like Bootstrap
http://www.lotrointerface.com/downlo...inManager.html

If the plugin manager can "see" the plugin, then you've installed it to the right location. Does the program load when you use a plugin manager?

If the above two ideas don't work, please tell me what the chat window says after you type /plugins load predictingametime
That chat window message will help me understand your exact issue.

Thanks for using(trying to use) PredictInGameTime!!!

Unable to load predictingametime

I followed these instructions however have been unable to get the plugin to load using the /plugins load predictingametime command. I ensured that I created a plugins folder in program files (x86) / lotro folder (I'm using windows 7) I even created it in the lotro folder in my documents because theres a folder there that lotro uses so I created a plugins folder in that one as well (My .abc music files us that one and they work) Any ideas?
THanks!

Ok, RL did get in the way for me as well but lets see if I can remember what I was doing and what it was I was thinking of...

Ah yes, no, Modnar didn't answer my question/request. I'll try to explain in more detail what I was thinking of.

If I recall correctly, at the time I wrote that I was doing the chicken-quests a lot and I wanted to time my departure from the shire so that I would reach Trollshaws just after dawn or early enough to not have to run through the Trollshaws after dusk. This was due to the fact that the road there seems to not have any trolls on it during daytime. Before any of you say that that's rubbish, I did do that particular quest at least 6 times just to check it out. While 6 times might not be sufficient to make it an empirical fact, the trolls seemed to have different wandering-areas for night/day.

So, back to my original request..

Right now (haven't installed the latest version yet) you can chose for example the next occurence of dawn and it will then list the times when dawn will occur.

I would like there to be an option to, instead of showing when dawn occurs the next four times, show when the next occurence of dawn is and then morning - noon - afternoon.

Not sure if I'm making any sense, too early in the morning to think clear. :P

EDIT: Installing latest version now.

EDIT 2: The 24hr-function works well enough, was a bit confused at first though because the initial 0 was missing (it's 05:50 here atm). Nothing I can't live with.

I just thought of one more function that I'd love to see. It's got to do with the alarm function. It would be really nice if there was a restart button on the alarm popup so that instead of having to open up the main window to reset/restart the alarm you'd just do that with one click. I am currently playing a loot of PvMP and using the 30-min DP-perks and it's easy to forget them in the heat of combat (especially the Infamy-boost) so having a popup remind you every now and then would be great.

Love this one though, it's one of the plugins I load up on all my alts all the time. Keep up the good work!

EDIT 3: Making the countdown visible in the minimized window would also be a nice feature.

Thanks for reminding me. RL has gotten in the way, and I kinda lost track of pigt for a bit. As I said in my post from January, I've made some headway on v2.1 but it'll take me a bit of time to finalize some things and make sure it all works before releasing. To help expedite the process, I am going to include the customizable time zone option for v2.1 but I am going to delay the release of customizable minidisplay for a future release.

Modnar - An Auction Alarm *shouldn't* take too much time to implement, and I'll include it in v2.1 if I have time. (NOTE: plugins can't access the auction house information, so you'd have to manually enter when you want the alarm to go off) For a future release, I'll see if I can implement an account-wide auction alarm. I'd have to figure out exactly how to pull it off, but I think it'd be cool to track time remaining on my Main character's auction while I'm actually playing on my alt character. I'm not sure if another plugin exists with that feature?

Jonatan - The 24hr display option *shouldn't* be very difficult for me to put in. I'll see if I can squeeze it in for v2.1. Did Modnar answer your question abt "how many minutes until the next in-game time"? I could try to list them ALL out, except there are 10 different in-game times, and each of those occur 8 times per 24 hrs.... not sure how I'd fit all 80 times into the plugin /shrug

Thanks for the feedback, guys, keep it coming! In the meantime, I'll start working on v2.1 again. It should be done Soon(tm)

Just wondering how v2.1 is coming along?

JonatanRaven: Unless I mis-understood, you can see how many minutes until the next named time period (for example in the 2nd line of text PIGT shows, "(17 min) Gloaming"). No listing of all time periods and the time remaining until that period exists though.

Personally the function I would like to see is an alarm clock function so that you can set PIGT to ring, flash, pop up a window - something - so that you know an Auction is in it's last hour. If I'm getting the whole hog here, both automatic alarm settings from the Auction Panel, and user established settings would be good. This way if someone only has an hour to play, or they have a curfew, have to get ready for work, whatever. (Could also be handy for timed events during Festivals.)

Would it be possible to get an option to use 24 hour time instead of the am/pm?

EDIT: Oh and another neat function would be to be able to see how long it is to the next switch instead of just how long it is to the next occurrence of the selected time. For example instead of showing every occurrence of morning, it would list how long until dawn, then morning, then noon etc etc..

Known bug: with the "/plugins list" and "/plugins refresh" commands, v2.0.2 actually reads as v2.0.1 whoops! it's the little things that get me sometimes.

Made a lot of headway on v2.1 which will include user-configurable timezone option as well as more options for the mini-display. v2.1 should be released sometime next week or the week after

Now, *that* was a quick response. If only everybody here would react like that to my comments...

Besides that, I failed to mention how much I like your plugin, so please consider me a fan of it.
COOL, i've been "fanned" !! (pun intended)
thx for the support, let me know what features you'd like to see.

Just in case someone else stumbles over this: the 2.0.1 version misses the top-level folder "plugins\ScrappyScripting\Predict...". Without that, the game will throw a 'cannot resolve package'.
Thanks for the catch, Setharnas.

Fixed the file folder structure with v2.0.2 ... the .zip should work now
