Description
Black Vellum is a clean and elegant user interface inspired by black vellum paper inscribed with gold ink. The current version contains the foundation of an interface with graphics for nearly all the generic windows and an updated skin for the skill and experience bar, compass and morale/power bars. Most of the user interface windows are semi-transparent with the default background images removed. Black Vellum includes Black Vellum Toolbars v1.1. The intent is for this interface to serve as a foundation for more complete interfaces, also distributed under the Creative Commons license.

Custom Toolbars

For instructions on using custom toolbars, see Black Vellum Toolbars 1.1.

Changes for Version 0.4

Updated user interface and added new graphics skins for:
  • Custom toolbars from Black Vellum Toolbars 1.1
  • Vital bars graphics (character, target, target selection and pet)
  • Warden gambit graphics
  • Radar/compass graphics
  • Taller auction house window
  • Larger dressing room
  • Misc graphics (corrected some issues)

Older Versions
  • v0.3 - Custom toolbar and updated more window graphics.
  • v0.2 - Update for V3B2, new skill bar, more window graphics.
  • v0.1 - Initial release for SoM generic window graphics.

This interface is released under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 license, which is provided in the file license.txt. If you share or remix and publish this user interface, please distribute it under the same license. Also please credit me with either a link to the Black Vellum portal or my user profile on LoTORInterface or to the LotRO Duo website. The graphics were created with GIMP and the source files (.xcf) are available for download on LotRO Duo.

Why is there a graphic for eight quickslot bars? The maximum you can have is 6 right? And 1 more for LM pets?

The docked quickslots aren't supposed to overlap the auto-attack and shortcuts buttons. It looks like your letterbox bar isn't centered across the width of the screen. Try moving it to the left by making X in TOOLBAR SIZING smaller. I'm not exactly sure what's wrong but the docked quickslots are supposed to line up with the black squares. You may have to fiddle with the X values (try larger X in DOCKED QUICKSLOTS as well).

Re: Default Action Bar slots not disappearing

If you followed the directions then I'm not sure what's wrong. /shrug
Did you set your in-game options to dock the quickslot bars?

If that doesn't work, PM me the "DOCKED QUICKSLOTS" code of your SkinDefinition file.

Default Action Bar slots not disappearing

I modified the skins.xml file per your instructions, but when I load LOTRO the default action bar icon slots are still visable and only 1-9 plus - = are using the addon's space. I'm not very good with code, so I figured I'd ask the writer himself.

What do I need to do to make it so the wide skin is utilized rather than the default icon locations?

Yeah, that stable-master bug is really annoying. I skinned all of the item select / highlight graphics I found in the art pack. I suspect that the stable-master window uses some graphics not included in the V3B2 pack.

Yes, that's it. Plus I changed your original skin, I removed the square for even more space on small screens. So it shows even more ^ ^



For the problem of the Stable-master, here is a screen, the left is when I do not pass the mouse over destinations, middle and right I move the mouse over destinations.

Re: Bug found on vital target.

I recommend disabling the player and mob portraits. In the options window:
  • Click on the "Adv Graphics" tab on the right.
  • Scroll down to the "Performance" options or search for "3d".
  • Uncheck the box for "3D Object Portraits".

Play with the Height if you want the entire animation or not
If you want entire animation you have to change the X&Y too.

How would I go about changing the minimap to default, and whatever icons you had on it, back to default? Or just taking off the border or maybe minimalizing it?

Also, the transparent quest objective (on main map) how can I implement that into your UI? It is a plugin I think, but it gives directions to edit an xml, but they don't seem to work.

*NOTE* Nevermind I figured it out.
