Moving the bars

I play on a Mac with a 2560x1440 screen. Loading the latest build the bars show up in the middle of the screens northwest quadrant. (Not centered by my character in the middle of the screen.)

I didn't see an option to locate the bars, only the debuff (and that relative to the bars with only a vertical adjustment).

Am I missing something in the options, or do I need to edit the lua?

(I love the concept and have played with a hud in WoW for years.)

Dur. Nice, it's integrated into the UI. Use Ctrl-\ to move like everything else. Sweet.

WOOT!!!! It's working with the update here, thank you for tracking down that bug.
Glad to hear it! Now I can go back to working on the next version

If I edit the graphics in the Resources folder can I make my own custom bars? I love the curves, but part of me pines for straighter lines!
Technically yes, but keep in mind that it's not designed (yet) in order to react to bars that are smaller/skinnier. This goes for everything from the display itself to the text positioning. So in order for it to work properly, you'd have to go in and play with the code as well.

I would strongly suggest that you wait a bit, as the next "real" update is going to be designed with custom bars in mind, including a companion mini-plugin desigined to make it easy to position text appropriately, as well as see your changes in real-time.

I noticed you say that hiding vitals will disable the ability to use the vitals options menu. It it possible to reskin the original vitals into a small icon that would simply serve to bring up the menu?

I would imagine it's possible - however, not with Lua. As you said, that would require a skin - which is something I've never really gotten into.

I really enjoy this plugin, which has made it easier to see my health and power in the thick of battle. As a guardian, I just don't have the time to take my eyes off the action to see my health and power up in the corner of a big wide screen monitor.

I have encountered an issue with the latest build on my hunter though. I put Purge Poison on the bar on the bottom. But, every time I use it there, the following error spams the chat window until I reload all of the plugins (seriously, it'll keep spamming this forever unless I reload the plugins):

Quote:
DebuffBar.lua:1312:attempt to perform arithmetic on field 'pCD' (a nil value)
So, for now, I have Purge Poison on my normal bars until this issue is resolved.

Happy hunting!

If you've just upgraded to v1.08, make sure you've reset your cooldowns in the Options panel- cooldown info is now saved in a completely different file, so when you first load it up, the coolDown options boxes will be blank.

As of right now, I know of no other cause for this issue, nor have I been able to replicate it myself. I would obviously like to find the cause for this problem - so any additional information would be helpful

Would you be able to add two morale and two power pot slots to cue up like what is in buffbars? I ask for two because there are the morale and power pots you can get from the store with their own cooldown.

Very nice plugin.

I'm wondering if you have any plans (or if it would be possible) to include target and target's target vitals on the HUD.

I know there was a HUD addon for WoW that did this, and found it extremely useful.

Target vitals were displayed inside of the player vitals. That is, between the bars for player vitals and the player's character.

Target's target vitals were displayed below the character.

An extremely miniaturized version of the result would look something like this:

(( _ ))

Looks like the numeric Power value at the bottom of the Power bar could be moved a coupla pixels to the right:

Definitely not a show stopper, just pickin' nits

Yeah, I agree it's annoying. Funny thing is one of the updates actually moved it to the left, because it was too far to the right - and now, somehow it's a bit too far to the left. I will attempt to reason with it while I'm working on a bar revamp as part of the next major release.

That being said, by all means feel free to pick as many nits as you like. Perfection may be impossible, but that's sure not going to stop me from trying lol

I plan on including as much data as a HUD should display as soon as it's possible to do so. Unfortunately, the information you see right now is the limit of what the API has access to at this point. As the API increases I hope to include such things as target vitals, progress/cast bar, target-target vitals, class related meters (i.e. focus/attunement/fervour, etc), "Saved" target vitals, dps/hps readout, and really anything else that's possible to display that a player might need to keep their eye on in the middle of combat.

The goal of the next major release (v1.1) is going to put Palantir at a point where it is set up to easily accept multiple bars and types of bars with a minimum of effort, so all that would be left - is just waiting on Turbine.

If I could find some way of incorporating morale/power pots into the HUD, I most certainly would, but at this point a simple quickslot bar placed next to the HUD would be the best I could do, which makes this less of a HUD thing, and more of just a quickslot plugin thing.

Unlike the debuff bar, there's nothing really to indicate that the main bars don't already - meaning the fancy cooldown meter/count would be uneccessary.

Also placing slots behind the main bars is problematic as well - especially when dealing with more than one pot, but even still - since you can't change the size of a quickslot reliably - the user would either be forced to guess where each slot is, or have to slot multiple quickslots behind it. Either way it would just be a big mess, especially compared to just adding custom quickslots on either side - whether that be Buffbars, Tonicbars, or Kragenbars

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't see the benefit of it - it's just that I don't see a way of doing it at this time, that can be any better than already existing methods. And I'm not about to start duplicating other author's plugins just so that people can have everything in one plugin I will however, continue to keep this idea in mind - and if/when I come up with a way to pull it off better than just using simple quickslots, I'll be happy to add it.
