EORLINGAS UI THEME

===============================================
Many, many thanks to the artists who have come before me with this project! Eorlingas has always been one of my all-time favorite UI skins, so updating it is a labor of love. But I would have been totally lost and uninspired without LedMirage's grat work and Dewee's later dedication.

The name for the UI Skin "Eorlingas" is right out of the LOTR lore, here follows a brief explanation: In J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, the Rohirrim were a horse people, settling in the land of Rohan, named after them. The name is Sindarin for People of the Horse-lords (sometimes translated simply as Horse-lords) and was mostly used by outsiders: the name they had for themselves was Eorlingas, after their king Eorl the Young who had first brought them to Rohan. Forth Eorlingas!

Every image file used in this theme is original work created by LedMirage using Photoshop CS2 exclusively. As he put it, "I love creating neat stuff for games and I've been doing this as a hobby for more than 10 years! :-)"

Unfortunately, Eduardo appears to no longer play LotRO or at the very least has moved on to other things. Dewee took over maintenance of the skin for a while, but hasn't touched it since February.

Over the course of the many game updates since LedMirage first released the interface there were things that were starting to break down and a lot of other new artwork that never got skinned at all. While this release of it doesn't bring EVERY panel up to date, it's a start. I intend to work more on this over time.

A lot of work has gone into this UI theme, we sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Thank you for trying it!

RECENT CHANGES
===============================================
Version 2.0.1 10/15/2010
1. Main Bar:
* Fixed the XP bar to accomodate its larger size in Volume 3, Book 2.
2. Mailbox:
* Replaced the background for the mailbox, reading panel and composition panel.
3. Deed Log:
* Fixed the Mines of Moria bookmark to compensate for the filename change introduced in Vol.3, Bk 2.
4. Skirmish Panels - Finally match the Eorlingas theme!
* Skinned most every element for the Instance Join panel.
* Skinned the entire Skirmish Traits panel.
* Skinned the soldier vitals and summon button.

Version 2.0 9/24/2010
1. Deed Log:
* Fixed the issue causing portions of the bookmarks to be chopped off or otherwise mutilated. Also updated the many new bookmarks that have been added since LedMirage's last update.
2. Store Icon:
* There is no describing how much I hated the LotRO Store icon -- especially when it "meshed" with the Eorlingas theme! I think my version actually manages to look classy.
3. Main Bar:
* With the many new buttons that have been added to either side of the skills area, the art wasn't matching up anymore. This has been fixed.
4. Attunement Panel:
* Rune-Keepers get some love with an all-new Attunement panel designed to match the rest of the theme.
5. Gambit Panel:
* Ditto for wardens with a matching gambit panel.
6. Escort Vitals:
* The issue with the escort artwork being offset with an odd wrap-around and not matching up with the stat bars has been fixed.
7. Dressing Room:
* My kinship had requests for a larger Dressing Room. Since it needed skinning anyway I went ahead and incorporated the one by Daimon, which in turn was based on Firefen's creation. (Thank you to both of you!) So now it's both skinned AND bigger.

===============================================
STILL TO COME
===============================================
There are still a couple partially skinned panels that could stand updating. They're not bad in the partially skinned state, but could be improved.

A couple items really bug me. One is the Dismount button that's now attached to the mount vitals bar. I can't seem to find its element for the life of me! Same goes for the XP progress graphic -- the subtle elven rules should be swapped out for something that matches a Rohirrim theme. Unfortunately it's another item I can't locate yet. (Sometimes it's the really small things that bug me the most!)

I've also had requests to make the recipes section of the crafting panel larger. I'll have to look into that soon!

Thumbs up! It's great that this has been updated Would probably be better if some of those files go into one folder... was a headache to have to do it myself because I couldn't take them all as is out of the PeaZip runner.

Great! Thank you!

Would you allow me to offer an addon that contains various changes and additions like small mainbar without minibuttons (and a version characters that have reached the levelcap), removal of many backgrounds, that are too uneasy for my taste, removal of some icons (for foreign languages - the bag titles look awful in German) and maybe layout changes to some panels. It will really be nothing more than an "addon" and I'd credit your work and the work of LM of course.

I wouldn't have a problem with that, Halvitur. Thanks for asking.

Travisimo: I used the same organizational structure that LedMirage used. Changing it would have required making changes to pretty much every line of the definition file. Why don't you use one of the unzip apps that support folders? Even the default Windows unzip does automatically.

Player portrait

Seem to have a very strange event occurring. Each time I enter or exit a door my player portrait grows, I tried going into the options to see if changing the scale would reset it, but it continues to grow even if I decrease the scale. The rest of the vitals frame and the target frame are fine, it only affects the portrait of my character. I started out as a f2p but have since upgraded to vip because the game and community is so much ncer than that "other" game I was playing. Hope you can help me out. Keep up the great work!

That is strange indeed. I haven't seen anyone else reporting this, or experienced it myself. Are you using the US or European client? Is this your only skin or plugin? Have you spliced a component from another skin, or something like the enlarged auction house and other extras that are available?

I am using the US client, I do have other skins but I have not added any other plug-ins. I'll remove the other skins to see if that fixes it then add the others one at a time to see if maybe I can pin down the conflict. I had just assumed that with each one being in their own folder that they wouldn't conflict with each other. I'll keep you posted. Thnx for the quick response.

Portrait issue

I'm still having the issue with this being the only interface package in my LOTRO folder, I would post a screenshot but alas, I have no idea how to do that. A side note is I actually see something resembling a border, for lack of a better term, along the bottom and on the right side of the portrait. I don't have any issues with other packages that I use. I am completely baffled.
K, just spent about 1/2 an hour on this and it keeps getting stranger, but I think I narrowed it down to the log-in process. If I log-in with the standard UI running then switch it works fine even without logging out and back in. If I do log-out after selecting your UI, as I was under the impression you should do when changing, then re-log with this UI up and running when I re-enter I experience the problem. Hope this helps, sorry if I confused you though. lol

That is totally bizarre. I've never seen anything like it.

There is a single line of code near the end of the skin definition file that specifies exactly where the character portrait goes relative to the panel's origin and the exact size of the portrait. The portrait is hard coded to be 64x64 in size.

Have you by chance scaled any elements of your UI using the UI options menu in-game? That's the only thing I can think of that would have an effect -- basically it's a value that acts upon the skin's values and if for some reason the game is recalculating these values every time it needs to refresh the UI (which would happen when you zone) then I could foresee some error causing this to happen.

IF you have resized UI elements, are those scale values set to an even or odd number? As I think about this, an odd number would conceivably be problematic since the result of Portrait Size times UI scale amount would not be a whole number. The UI engine would need to round the result to whole number and might be getting stuck in some kind of loop. Since the portrait is 64x64 in size, try making sure that your UI scale amount will result in a "good" value. For example, 75% would result in 48x48 -- a good value while 80% would result in 51.2 -- a bad value.

Otherwise, I've posted in the developers' forum to see if maybe anyone else has an idea.

That seems to have "fixed" it. I reset the frame values for the vitals back to 1 and it appears to be working. I'll give it a runthrough this afternoon and see how it holds up.
Edit: Works perfectly! It would be nice if I could enlarge the vitals frame, but I'll deal with it. Any plans on enlarging the crafting window in a future release? Just a note, the vitals frame bugs out whether I use the vitals slider or using the master slider for the UI. Thanks so much for your help.

Any update on a mini toolbar?

Also want to echo the request for a larger crafting window with your border and background.

Great UI skin.

I'm in the middle of doing that now. I just need to fix a few more things and get permission from everyone's stuff that I used. lol Once that is done, I will try to upload it. I say try because I have yet to upload any of the alterations that I have made. lol Making my own skin is impossible because I'm about as artistically talented as frog trying to paint the Mona Lisa. Shouldn't take me more than a few days. I hope to have it done and uploaded by this weekend.
