Category: LotRO PatchesBuffMonitor with Quickslots |
This file is a Patch for BuffMonitor by ptweety. You must have that installed before this Patch will work.
BuffMonitor window, with effect icons on the left, and quickslots on the right
|
|
Introduction
BuffMonitor is similar to BuffBars; it shows a progress bar for each buff on your character that you are interested in. It is simpler and less configurable than BuffBars, but it has one advantage:
When a buff expires, it doesn't disappear from BuffMonitor. So it helps you remember which buffs you need to use in the future.
This patch adds a useful feature to BuffMonitor: It adds a quickslot to each buff bar. You can drag an item or skill there, so you don't have to remember which skill/item corresponds to each buff.
For example, I can't ever remember which foods are "cooked", "trail", or "fortifying", so I put the relevant food item in the quickslot. When the buff expires, I don't have to figure out which food I need; I just click on the quickslot next to the buff timer.
Installation and Startup
To install: - The easy way is to use Plugin Compendium. Just select "BuffMonitor with Quickslots" under the "Add New Plugins" tab, click "Add", and it will automatically install BuffMonitor with this patch.
- Or, you can do the installation manually:
- First, you need to install BuffMonitor. This patch cannot stand alone without that plugin. Unzip the archive and drag the "PTweety" folder into your "Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/Plugins" folder. (If you have not previously installed any plugins, you will have to first create the Plugins folder.)
- Next, download this patch and unzip it. It also contains a "PTweety" folder, which you should drag into the same place as before. You will be prompted to overwrite files; answer yes.
To load the plugin, use the game's built-in Plugin Manager. This can be found in the "^" menu, at the bottom of the screen. Click the icon, then choose "System" and then "Plugin Manager".
When the Plugin Manager opens, find "BuffMonitor" in the list on the left side. Click "Load" to load the plugin. (You should also see "BuffMonitor with Quickslots" there, but the patch should not be loaded directly.)
If you would like the plugin to load automatically each time you login, choose your character's name in the "Automatically Load For" pulldown menu.
Configuration Notes
To create a window, open the Plugin Manager, select BuffMonitor on the left, and click the "Options" tab at the top.
To add effects to the window, right-click the window to first add a bar, then add an effect to it.
When entering effect names, remember: - The effect names are case-sensitive.
- You can use a partial effect name, such as "Battle Lore" instead of "Minas Ithil Battle Lore", so you won't have to change it when the next kind of "Battle Lore" is added to the game.
- If the effect name contains a hyphen, you need to replace it with "%-". For example, "Honey-cake" becomes "Honey%-cake", and "Light-oil" becomes "Light%-oil".
- In general you can use any valid Lua pattern-matching string, but the above are the only important things to know for the average user.
For each BuffMonitor window, you configure whether it shows only in combat, only out of combat, or always. This is useful to separate pre-combat buffs (e.g. food) from the buffs that you need to monitor while in combat.
There is also a "Lock quickslots" option, so that after you are finished configuring the quickslots the way you want them, you won't accidentally modify them.
See the BuffMonitor home page for more details.
Known Issues
- Loading this plugin with different client languages (English, German, French) is likely to corrupt the settings file. So don't do that.
- The quickslots can get "stale". For example, if you drag a stack of Battle Lore scrolls into a quickslot, it may stop working once that stack is used up, even if you still have more Battle Lore scrolls in your inventory. Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix this, and the only workaround is to drag the new stack into the quickslot.

That button is used to show or hide the BuffBars bars. If you don't want to see it, move it behind one of your other UI elements – even one of your BuffBars – and it will be completely out of your way. It will also be inaccessible, you won't be able to click on it, and since most of BuffBars does not respect the UI visibility screenshots will always show your BuffBars unless you first disable the BuffBars mod completely. You could tuck the button into one of the corners of your screen where it will be out of the way but still accessible.
There's no way to get rid of that button short of changing the code for the mod. The author hasn't touched it since 2013 and even the author of the update patch hasn't touched that since 2017.

I am using BuffBars with this update patch:
https://www.lotrointerface.com/downl...fo.php?id=1000
I don't understand exactly what issue you're having with BuffBars, I don't see any icon on my screen while playing. Perhaps this update patch will address your concern.
Sorry for all this BuffBars talk in your add-on's comments section, Thurallor.

I would like to request some adjustments
- addition of transparency (transparency) for individual bars
- adding the option to turn off; switching on the individual bars in case the effect is not active
simply so that the bar is not visible when the effect or buff is not active due to greater clarity on the monitor
and I still have one request
I also use the BuffBars plugin and I'm annoyed that when I turn it on, I also show me the plugin icon and I don't know how to turn off this icon, but only the icons, not the plugin itself. could you help me with that?
I've already written about it in the comments of the plugin, but except for one user, no one called me and he also misunderstood me

Is it possible to use BuffMonitor to track debuffs created by CombatAnalysis? I can make them appear in BuffBars, but for some reason I cannot get BuffMonitor (or this patched version) to show them.

No, sorry. This plugin only uses the built-in API to monitor effects that appear on your character. I.e., anything that causes a buff/debuff icon to appear on your character.
There is nothing to prevent you using this plugin along with BuffBars and Combat Analysis, though. If BuffBars is working for you, I would say you should keep using it.
If BuffBars / CA aren't working for you, there is a plugin with a similar UI which can monitor effects on mobs: DebuffVitals.

Okay, I will look into it.

Thank you for trying, in case the author of the BuffMonitor plugin will answer you and give you my consent, I hope that you will subsequently release the full version of the BuffMonitor plugin, so for now I will probably have to regularly monitor the website for comments or release a new update.
Edit: after downloading the latest update for me change now Plugin Compendium writes from BuffMonitor and BuffMonitor with Quickslots I do not have installed and I do not have it in the list of plugin manager in the game

Thanks for reporting this issue. I have fixed it in version 1.1.3.
@vecny.samotar, Drono: I can't release a new stand-alone version of BuffMonitor without the permission of the original author. I sent a PM to ptweety, but I will be surprised if I get a reply.

@Thurallor : The problem vecny.samotar is reporting is because in your version of BuffMonitor.plugin the version number is 1.1.2 while in the original file of BuffMonitor plugin the version number is 1.0.0.
I guess PluginCompendium only compare if these two are same and if they are different it assume there is an update.
Edit: I assume this is because your patch does not have .plugincompendium file but plugincompendium also show version for 'unmananged' plugins

Plugin Compendium doesn't know about this patch (BuffMomintor with Quickslots). You must install this patch (see instructions above) after installing the standard BuffMonitor plugin.
|
but i installed it using Plugin Compendium. so I installed BuffMonitor using Plugin Compendium and inserted your patch manually. I check for plugin updates via Plugin Compendium and when Plugin Compendium cannot detect your patch so I find out that you have modified (updated) something?
could not contact the author using Plugin Compendium and request that your patch be written to the Plugin Compendium database? so that the Plugin Compendium can detect it, or create a "new" full-fledged BuffMonitors with your fixes and name it e.g. BuffMonitor II and write this data to the Plugin Compendium database.
in short, my point is that I don't have to regularly go to the page with your patch and check if by chance I didn't issue an update when it can do the Plugin Compendium for me

Great mod!
Thanks very much for your improvements to the BuffMonitor plugin! I've only just begun experimenting with it, I see how it could be very useful even running side-by-side with BuffBars. I really like the quickslots!
The plugin picks up any new buffs which take effect with perfect accuracy. However, one thing I have noticed is that if I log in with a buff already active, the plugin does not recognize it until I right-click on one of the bars to bring up the OPTIONS panel and then click on ACCEPT. BuffBars does not have this issue, it recognizes buffs active at login without requiring any input from me.
Thanks again!
