Description
If you are an altaholic like me, you have spent countless hours logging characters in and out looking for where you put crafting supplies or trophies. Alt Inventory allows you to view a snapshot of your alt's bag inventory, vault and shared storage without leaving game so that you know which character has how many of which items.


NOTE: THIS AND ALL OTHER INVENTORY PLUGINS ONLY HAVE ACCESS TO BAGS, EQUIPPED ITEMS, VAULT AND SHARED STORAGE CURRENTLY. There is no access to Housing Storage or Wardrobe. As soon as Turbine grants Lua plugins access to any other form of storage I and most other developers will add that to our plugins.


Finally, the long awaited version 3.0 update has arrived.


Alt Inventory allows you to quickly and easily view all of your inventory for your character, your alts, all vaults, and shared storage in one view. You can filter the display by item category or enter a case-insensitive search (accent-insensitive as well so this works for DE and FR clients as well!) for an item by name. You can sort the view by Name, reverse Name, Category or Quality. You can also choose to display icons and text, text only or icons only. The window is resizable and movable, will disappear for clean screenshots and can be opened from an icon when desired or by the chat command "/altinventory show".


Version 3.0 now focuses only on inventory display. The Item Tracking features are now a separate plugin, ItemTracker and all non-inventory displays will be in AltViewer. This separation of functionality allows the plugin to function far more efficiently as well as allowing all of the inventories to be merged into a single display.

Quantity details can be viewed by hovering over the name of the item. In the "ALL" view, this will display how many of the item are in each type of storage by character. In an individual storage view (single character, vault or Shared Storage) the detail will show how many are in each container within that storage ("Chests" for vaults and Shared Storage and "Bags" for character).

Tooltips will display when you hover over the icon of any item that your current character can access - if you open your vault, then any item in the vault will show a tooltip even after leaving the vault-keeper until you unload the plugin. Items with a grey and red dotted border will not display a tooltip.


Known Issues:
The mini-icon funtionality has not been implemented in version 3.0 but will return in a future version.

Future plans: a long vacation in a warm climate. oh, for the plugin. um, well, not too many plans until we see what update 10 brings us.

NOTE: I have cleared the version log since 3.0 is a significant code change from prior versions and the bugs/fixes from the prior versions are no longer relevant. The change log now starts with version 3.01. The "Version History.txt" however does cover all prior versions.
Ver 3.07
Added ability to Zoom the interface for large screens. To zoom, open the options window and select one of the zoom options at the bottom of the General Options tab.
NOTE: Due to underlying inconsistancies in the handling of sizing when a window is stretched (zoomed), the built-in resizing had to be disabled. To resize the inventory window when zoomed, hold either Control or Alt or Shift and then drag the border (or any of the background) of the window to resize
Fixed bug in compact view that would sometimes cause the window to resize improperly.
Fixed but that caused a creep in the positioning and size of the compact window between unloading and reloading the plugin.

____________________Installation__________________ __
To install the Alt Inventory plugin, unzip the entire zip file to your Plugins folder. If you had the game running when you installed the plugin, you will have to type "/plugins refresh" or close and restart the game.

To run the plugin, simply load it. Type "/plugins load altinventory" in your game chat window or set the plugin to load automatically from the Turbine Plugin Manager (type "/plugins manager" in chat or access from the System menu).

When you first close the Alt Inventory window, the icon will appear in the lower left corner of your display, you can drag it to any location you want by holding Ctrl while you drag it and the next time it loads it will remember it's location.

Finally...

A bug that was reported a long, long, time ago in a middle earth far, far away has finally been addressed. Some of you may have noticed that ever since the VIP Town Services perks were added, inventory plugins were sometimes showing incorrect info. What was happening was that the Vault and Shared Storage information was being cached if you accessed town services and then logged out and logged in another character without closing the client. In that case, the Lua client thought that the currently logged in player's Vault was available and reported it as such, but the items in it were the prior character's Vault items so the plugin data got corrupted. If you happened to then visit a vault-keeper or use the town services again to check your vault, the items got corrected and the plugin would fix itself as long as you didn't logout and login yet another character. It took me a little while to determine what was going on, but when I reported it to SSG and posted an explanation for users as well as a workaround, they thought it could be exploited and deleted my forum thread and sent me a nasty-gram telling me not to repost it. Foolishly, I showed them that it was not exploitable (mostly due to two other long term bugs in the Lua client) but was a major pain for Lua authors. I say foolishly because when they thought it was an exploit they planned to fix it ASAP, but after telling them it wasn't actually an exploit, they downgraded it to the point that it didn't get fixed until the next year... I'll learn to keep my mouth shut. Maybe.

Anyway, I can confirm that update 33 does indeed address this issue. All users have to do is revisit their vault-keeper or use town services to access their vaults on each character and it will fix itself - unfortunately, that does mean logging in each character to visit their vaults before you can be sure it is totally fixed.

So, once they fix whatever happened to RK satchels, you can go back to trusting the vault displays in lua plugins.

This is working as intended since the name change can not be detected by Lua, the changed name is seen as a new character. I noticed that when I changed the name of my character, the name-change wasn't reflected in the plugin. This issue persists regardless of logging out and back in, logging into the character, etc. Will there be a fix for this?

That error means that the .plugin file was in the correct location and was read, but the main.lua file is not in the correct location. This is peculiar since you said everything was working. Typically this would mean you renamed a folder or deleted files causing the main.lua file to no longer exist in the "...documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\Plugins\GaranStuff\AltInventory" folder.

If you are not sure or are not able to replace the missing file, I would suggest that you download Lunarwater's Plugin Compendium and use it to install the plugin since it will make sure that all of the files are in the correct locations.

Ver 3.07

Well, it's been a few years since I published an update and people have been clamoring for scalable bag displays since the client doesn't allow scaling the bags. Ver 3.07 introduces the ability to scale the display x2 and x4 - I purposely restricted the scaling to these two multiples to avoid most of the really ugly issues that can arise from fractional multiples, believe me, zooming a bag x1.37 (or any other non-integer power of two multiple) looks REALLY ugly. Unfortunately, since the actual resources are 32x32 pixels, the best I can do is magnify those, but this allows inventory items to display as 64x64 or 128x128 which should help a bit with 4K displays. The popup tooltips are controlled by the system so they do not scale - sorry, I have no control over that

To zoom the interface, click on the gear icon and change the zoom setting at the bottom of the General Options tab. Click Save and the plugin will redisplay a zoomed interface. Note that once zoomed, you will have to hold Alt or Shift and drag the borders to resize the window since there are bugs in the API when using Resizable and SetStretchMode I will try to figure out a workaround to allow re-enabling the built-in sizing but I'm not hopeful at this point.

I would love to hear some feedback from anyone with a 4K display as to whether the scaling makes the bags any easier to use.

Hopefully I didn't break anything while playing with some really old code - if I did, please post here and I will address it as soon as I can.

Anniversary Tokens are currency and are stored in the barter wallet, not inventory bags - technically, they are awarded as an inventory item and then automatically moved to the wallet by the client which is why they show up for just a second and will leave a 0 quantity item. To track/display currencies, use the Wallet plugin:

Hey there! Just trying out your addon. Looks good so far.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it seems to not recognise/count my Anniversary Tokens. I have logged to alts that I know have them, but when I search then the result does show the token but says I have 0.

Edit: here's a screenshot to show what I mean:

Hi,

First, items will only be clickable if you are looking at the current player inventory (not vault, shared storage or another character) since only items in your actual bags are usable.

Second, there is a setting in the options window that will cause Alt Inventory to display totals, but this also disables the ability to use items since the item displayed is a single stack but the underlying items may actually be in seveal stacks and thus the item displayed is not a real item (to be honest, I don't recall when this feature was added but it was a user request, I personally never use it). To make sure this is turned off, load AltInventory, click the gear icon in the bottom left of the plugin window to open the options window. Click the "Inventory View Options" tab and make sure the check box for "Current bags display total items" is not checked. Click "Save".

If this does not fix your issue, please let me know.

If the search term is treated as a pattern (rather than a literal string) you'd have to put in "Fire%-oil" to find it. (Just guessing at a possible reason the search isn't working as expected.)

Hi. The carry-all bags are not exposed to Lua so this is not possible at this time. (see the prior question asked and answered )
