I believe by "Sundering of Osgiliath" you are referring to the PvMP version of Osgiliath which iirc, indeed has that title, but it's been many, many years since I wandered over there and it was a virtual graveyard even then. Anyway, the PvMP version of Osgiliath is already in MoorMap. It can be selected under the path:
Code:
Middle Earth
   Gondor
      Eastern Gondor
         South Ithilien
            Osgiliath (PvMP)
directly under the map entry for "Osgiliath". Unfortunately, if you are in the zone and hit the player location button (or enter the "/loc" chat command), MoorMap will initially display the regular "Osgiliath" map since they share the same exact coordinates. You can easily switch to the PvMP version by dropping down the map selection box and selecting the map under "Osgiliath" which will be "Osgiliath PvMP". MoorMap will then recognize that your position is on the currently displayed map and will simply update your position on that map when you hit the player position button again (you can check your position as you wander about the zone without worrying that MoorMap will swap back to the non-PvMP version). Note, however, if you change maps to another zone and then try to bring up the Osgiliath map again, it will once more default to the non-PvMP version until you tell it that you actually want the PvMP version again.

As to special functionality, I don't recall there being any faction controllable locations, map-in locations, or strongholds so there is nothing special to show on the map.

If you meant a different zone or something else, let me know.

Of course, this highlights two things: first, I just can't help giving long-winded complicated answers to even simple questions, second, the fact that there are soooooo many maps that a filter is needed to make finding the right map easier in the list. I believe that is already on the ToDo list. If it is, I will be raising its priority, if it's not, it soon will be (it took me a couple of minutes to figure out where to find Osgiliath (PvMP) and I put it there ). Unfortunately, my dropdownlistbox class does not currently support this functionality, so, I will have to experiment with adding that ability...

Ver 1.47

ver 1.46 never made it out of QA testing so we are now at ver 1.47

The most significant change is the inclusion of a Roving Threats overlay that is compatible with Mathwold's RTPlugin. For those zones that have Roving Threats or Hidden Threats, there is a new Overlay that can be displayed which will show markers for the possible spawn locations. Similar to RTPlugin, you can mark the possible spawn points, but you can also indicate which specific RT is at each spawn point so if you are helping someone find a specific RT, the Overlay legend will tell you which spawn location was flagged for that threat (click the entry in the legend to activate a ping at that spawn on the map). You can also mark those points that were checked and had no threat, so you will be able to easily remember which points you have already checked. Similar to RTPlugin, you can share your spawn locations, however when sharing with a destination that is running RTPlugin, the RT name will not show (since RTPlugin does not support that) and if you receive a message from a user using RTPlugin, the spawn will be listed as "Active" instead of having a specific name, again, because RTPlugin does not support that. Chat channels UC5-8 are also available (RTPlugin only supports UC1-4) but the global channels are not supported in MoorMap, mostly to prevent spamming of global channels - Kinship, Fellowship, UC1-8 and Tells are supported. Note, when the Roving Threat or Hidden Threat overlays are active, they will automatically mask all annotations so that the spawn points will stand out more against the map background. Turning the overlay off will automatically re-enable the annotations.

Data driven overlays (such as Berry's Deed Data) have had a considerable overhaul behind the scenes to make supporting Deed overlays easier to implement and support. Part of this overhaul was included in 1.46 for the Wildwood deed overlay. I may find time in the future to add additional deed overlays if there is sufficient interest from the community.

The map dropdown list now allows the user to type a partial map name in the textbox and it will automatically scroll the first matching map name into view in the dropdown list making it MUCH easier to find most maps in the ever-growing list.

As always there have also been a number of bug fixes, mostly minor things.

Share custom annotations

I have just got a new computer and I want to be able to access my custom annotations on this new one.
Is there a way to do that?

Thanks

Yes. It's not a built in function and requires copying a few files but is not overly complicated to copy annotations to another computer (one way).

The custom annotations are stored in your Documents in the folder: "Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\PluginData\username\AllServers"
where username is your account name. If you have multiple accounts there will be multiple folders. In that folder, you will find all of the settings files that are stored for that account (as opposed to settings stored per server or per character). The MoorMap custom annotations files all start with "MM_CustomAnnotations".

Make sure the game is not running. Copy all of the files starting with "MM_CustomAnnotations" from that folder to the same folder on your new computer and restart the game client. All of your custom annotations should re-appear.

Unfortunately, keeping them in synch if you continue to use both computers is a far more complex issue and involves creating networked shared folders and symbolic links and is not something I would recommend (the process requires knowledge far greater than a simple file copy, especially if something goes awry). So, I would recommend that you retire the old computer and only use the new one or get used to copying the files back and forth if you ever make changes (the manual method, while mildly cumbersome, is far easier to perform), either over a network or just using an external drive like a usb drive.

Re: Share custom annotations

Thank you so much, Garan. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to have worked for me but I suspect it's a drive path thing (even though it should be ok).
Could you let me know which file name is the right one for Eryn Lasgalen/Dale. If I know that, I can try copying that specific file across (I've tried the entire folder to no avail) and mess around with it until I get the transfer to work...then I'll know what to do!

Thanks again!

The instructions were for a Windows machine. If you do not have a Windows machine then everything will be the same except the path to the plugindata folder. Make sure you are copying to the PluginData folder, not the Plugins folder (that would be where the code goes, not saved data). The simplest way to determine the correct location would be to use MoorMap to save a custom annotation on the new system, exit the game (or just unload plugins) and then search for the file - in your case since you are apparently in Eryn Lasgalen, the file is MM_CustomAnnotations_171.plugindata

FWIW, the numeric part is the index of the map from the entry in defaults.lua in the MoorMap plugin folder - you can find the correct numeric part for any map by finding the map name (in the comment at the end of the line). The first number on the line is the index which becomes the map id.

Lothlorien map

You may know this but the Lothlorien map seems a bit off. It has Gworast 12.8S, 62.9W and Talan Brethil 12.2S, 62.4W in Mirkwood on the East side of the Anduin.

Thanks for reporting that. When SSG changed the maps in the latest update they altered the dimensions and I forgot to fix Lothlorien. It will be fixed in the next update.

Re: Re: Re: Share custom annotations

Fantastic - I found the path on my original machine differed from the new one. All good! Thank you so very much. Love the product. Can't wait for all the updates for new areas!

It sounds like there is an issue saving the breadcrumbs. This will require a bit of testing. It may be a permissions issue, interference from another plugin, or possibly an 'unforeseen feature' (i.e. a bug).

Try setting some breadcrumbs, then, without logging out, switch maps in MoorMap and then switch back to your current map and see if the breadcrumbs are still displayed. If so, then you likely have something causing the client to fail saving .plugindata files when you log out. This can be caused by using certain plugins such as Bootstrap that interfere with proper execution of Unload handlers. Try unloading ALL plugins (execute "/plugins unload" in chat), then manually load MoorMap ("/plugins load moormap"), create some breadcrumbs and log out. See if the breadcrumbs were retained upon logging back in and reloading MoorMap.

If the breadcrumbs are not preserved when switching maps without logging out, please make sure you have the Error channel selected in your chat (select the chat tab where you wish error messages to show then right click the tab and click and select 'Change Filters' and make sure that 'Error' is checked) then look for any error messages when switching maps.

Let me know the results of the tests.

There are a few default Overlays, however the feature was really implemented to allow users to create their own Overlays for things like quides. One new set of Overlays will be released with the update for Gundabad, there will be a set of Overlays on the Deepscrave map to help indicate the sections accessible in each tier (except groundfloor since pretty much everything overlaps the groundfloor) to make finding your way around a bit easier. There is a preview on the lotro forums:

I did all the tests you suggested and I was able to log out and relog back in and the breadcrumbs worked! I was in Thorin's Gate, the zone I had trouble in was one of Moria maps, navigating around in there.... when I can I'll go back there and see what's what, thanks so much. You mention a couple 'default' Overlays, I have Barry's are there more?

Glad that the tests worked. That indicates that it is not a permissions problem and not a bug in MoorMap but rather an external issue preventing MoorMap (and probably other plugins) from saving data when you log out. I suspect the problem will arise again since it is likely one of your other plugins is crashing the Lua system when you log out which in turn causes the lost data. You can try running a series of tests, in each test only loading MoorMap and one other plugin (you will need to repeat the test for each other plugin you normally load). You will need to create new breadcrumbs in each test and you will need to follow your regular exit process, whether that is logging out or directly exiting game, to determine how to reproduce the problem and isolate which other plugin is actually causing the issue. Unfortunately, it may not be just a single other plugin but a combination of other plugins that causes the issue in which case it will require some significant effort on your part to identify it.

If you do not wish to do the many, many tests needed or if testing still does not yield a definitive answer, there is a fairly simple work around. Any time that you have created breadcrumbs or added annotations, simply change maps in MoorMap before logging out - that will allow MoorMap to save its data anyway (MoorMap actually performs a save, unload and reload each time the map is changed).

EDIT:
As to default Overlays, there are the Berry's Overlays, a new deed overlay for Wildwood that uses the same tech but not Berry's data, the Roving Threats, Warbands and Hidden Threats Overlays as well as a couple of simple samples such as the boss paths in The Ancient Tomb and Isengraf as well as the Forest Without Frontiers Overlay for Matalan. As previously mentioned, a new set of Overlays will soon be added for Deepscrave to help with the vertical tiers. I did intend to use the same method as the Wildwood overlays to add additional deed overlays but just haven't had the time, it is still on the ToDo list, just a lot of other things, particularly RL, keep getting in the way.

in response to questions from the user JLPicard you mention that there are other Overlays besides Berry's Overlays so I would like to know if these other Overlays can be downloaded somewhere and if so whether they could be implemented in your map plugins

Anyone can create Overlays. I know some people have played with creating overlays for things like ore locations and instance guides, probably shared with their kinships, but beyond that, I don't know of anyone that has published their work for others to use.

To implement them, the author would simply have to provide the image that is used for the overlay and the name of the map that it is used for. The user would save that image in the Overlays folder (or a subfolder if they chose), then open MoorMap to the correct map, click the Overlays button and enter the name of the image file (or path if it is in a subfolder). Once the definition is saved, it would show up the same as the default Overlays do when that map is open. So, to recap, all that is needed is an image. In .tga (for transparency) or .jpg (non-transparent, would replace the entire map) format. The image should also be the same size as the original map - map sizes can be found in the defaults.lua file with MoorMap (parchement style exteriors are 1024x768, interiors are multiples of 800x600 - ie. 800x600, 1600x1200, 2400x1800, 3200x2400 or 4800x3600).
