Description
Tobii
Tobii, which is an acronym for T(he)O(ne)B(ag) II, started out as a learning experiment with the goal of expanding the capabilities of, and fixing issues in, TheOneBag, written by Rod of Turbine.

What is it?
Tobii is a one window replacement that unifies individual backpacks.

Features
  • Replaces existing backpacks, so all methods of opening/closing the backpacks will open/close Tobii.
  • No longer fades when left open.
  • Change appearance appropriate to Freep or Creep play. It's also silver, instead of gold, during Freep play.
  • One of the improvements to TheOneBag code, Tobii has a grid background.
  • Saves position when closed, visibility changes, or when Tobii is unloaded from memory.
  • Tobii can be resized by drag and drop. Click and drag the corner window element in the upper left, lower left, or lower right corners.
  • User can define the default visibility.
  • Title will show how many used/total inventory slots.

    From Top to bottom:
    /tobii nocounter
    /tobii showfree
    /tobii showused
  • Several shell commands:
    • /tobii show - Makes Tobii visible
    • /tobii hide - Hide Tobii
    • /tobii toggle - Hides Tobii if visible, Makes Tobii visible if hidden.
    • /tobii defaultshow - Shows Tobii on load.
    • /tobii defaulthide - Hides Tobii on load.
    • /tobii nocounter - removes used/free inventory counter
    • /tobii showused - sets counter to show amount of used inventory spaces
    • /tobii showfree - sets counter to show amount of free inventory spaces" )

Install
To install Tobii, unzip the Almagnus1 folder to your Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/Plugins folder.

The Turbine Plugin Manager is strongly recommended for use with Tobii.

Known Issues/Limitations
  • Turbine has busted part of the API relating to inventory management, among other things. Tobii does not work correctly at this time. As soon as Turbine fixes the API, Tobii will be tweaked to work correctly.
  • Dragging the mouse beyond the edge of LotRO in Window-mode while doing a resize will cause Tobii to hit the edge of the screen, and start resizing in the other direction. I'll get the appropriate safeguards in place to stop this from happening Soon(TM).
  • Currently, Tobii will increase in size if new storage space is unlocked during play, but will not increase the grid size. A reload is needed for Tobii to display the grid correctly.

Future Enhancements
  • Visual warning when the number of slots displayed is less than the capacity of the backpack.
  • A control panel for various settings.
  • Sorting/Filtering... Maybe... still undecided on this one.

Suggestions/Problems/Found a bug?
If you have found something that can make Tobii better, I'd love to hear from you. Please PM me, or leave me a message here, or on the LotRO forums (user: Almagnus1).

Ah, I see what's going on....

I'll have to investigate it when I have time to sit down and debug the plugin - which isn't likely to happen until the New Year.

When using the Turbine loader to load the plugins, it doesn't load a blank bag (I see the contents of my bag). But items are still disappearing, starting with slot0, swapping item slots makes one item disappear and randomly moving an item to an empty slot will make it disappear. Like I said, this was briefly fixed, then Update 5 happened and it started again.

** EDIT **

If you are using manager as well as the Turbine Loader (which I still am), a /rl will unload TOBII (as expected because manager doesn't have it loaded). is there a command to quick reload plugins from the Turbine Manager/loader?

** EDIT2 **
I also noticed that using an item to swap, such as a different LI or piece of gear will leave both item icons in your bags and useable *kinda*, the bag isn't updating the changes correctly.

Have you tried having Tobii load with the Turbine Plugin loader, and not the Plugin Manager (or another 3rd party Plugin Manager)?

After upgrading to 2.0.2a, I noticed that hen I logged into one of my toons, my bag was empty, I had to unload and reload tobii for my items to appear properly (nothing was lost, just the contents of my bags were invisible w/ tobii enabled.)

I've also noticed that items are progressively disappearing again starting with slot0 in my tobii bag, this was fixed mysteriously and I'm not sure what happened.

**EDIT** This is a little bit more of a prevalent bug now. Switching gear, moving items around within bags and items disappear. Disabling TOBII for now.

Turbine seems to have corrected the things disappearing bug w/ TOBII. I haven't updated TOBII since this bug was reported and it has stopped since Update 5.

And.... I'm tooling around with Tobii on Bullroarer - Everything's looking good and working fine thus far.

Edit:
And Turbine just published information on how to use their plugin manager to host an options screen - I'm digging this, and the next version will likely come with this feature =)

No worries mate - I've done the exact same thing too many times to count =)

Edit:
Did some minor tweaking to the post.

It's still going to work oddly, if you notice stuff disappearing, reload the plugin.

edit: Please ignore the post below this edit. Further testing showed I had a corrupted plugin manager which caused the crashes. After reinstalling the plugin manager at least another "One/Big/Huge Bag" plugin now works fine. I did not yet test Tobii again, but I guess it will most probably work as well. Thanks for your work and sorry for the inconvenience my wrong information might have caused.

original post:
Doesn't work - at least not for me. (My German) Client crashes every time I right-click any item in my inventory (e.g. to change a weapon), even if it is the only loaded plugin so far (besides plugin manager).

Tried out several of the different "One-Bag-Plugins" so far. None worked without client crashes, unfortunately.

To clarify, this is **NOT** an item vanishing from your inventory. The contents of your back remain constant, all that's going on is the Lua API attempting to place an item in Slot 1, then removing it, then placing in in the correct slot, thus causing the Lua version of the backapck to "drop" the item.

I'm looking into it.

fixed my bag not working ... tobii was actually behind my chat window and I couldn't see it at all. But I do notice the items disappearing thing though. If I go to /manager and reload, everything is fine though.... just annoying. What would happen if my bags are full and a new item replaces a slot of a "disappeared" item?

like someone in hugebag thread says.

first item disappear if you loot a item that you don't have in the your bag already, for every new item, a old item disappear.

I noticed the items disappearing too - which are stemming from errant item removed events, when items aren't being removed.

I'll continue to look into it (time permitting) over the next few days, and see if there's some way to work around this issue.

On a side note, I'm starting to wonder if inventory plugins are just completely doomed to fail XD
