Minimal toolbar skin
|
|
Enlarged dressing room
|
|
Overview
Minimal skin is designed for those who don't want a lot of clutter on their screen and want to enjoy the beauty of Middle-Earth. It contains minimal version of toolbar (only quickslots, autoattack and menu button) and enlarged dressing room (this is necessity). All coding was handmade (no sources).
Plans for future versions
Enlarging more UI panels and maybe some cosmetic changes. Feel free to give me your suggestions in comments.
Installation
To install the skin, extract the folder "Minimal" from this archive to Your Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/ui/skins
Next step is adjusting the skin for your display resolution. Nothing difficult.
1. Open extracted file "SkinDefinition.xml" in a text editor (notepad should be enough)
2. Read instructions in the file.
3. Replace 4 values in the file accoring to the instructions.
4. Done
In case you find any bugs, please contact me (this is my first skin after all).
That's it, enjoy and tell me what you think

Perfect! Thank you so much for your help, I followed your second suggestion and was able to implement a transparent.tga and also map the asset - I can confirm this solves the issue.
I have a feature suggestion however, but I have already done the coding, if you wish to use it, of course.
I came across this deprecated mod which meshes VERY well with your UI and provides a nice sleek and clean look. I adapted the code provided with the updated syntax in the newer skin packs, and it works great now. (I also had to drop a transparent.tga called "Invisible.tga" into the toolbar_minimal folder, but I'm sure you would have immediately realised that.
Anyway, it is of course a stylistic choice, but I thought it might go really well with your beautifully clean interface.

It looks like this element wasn't included in U14 skinning pack, only the image so i can't hide the element. (Defining custom elements doesn't work.) There are 2 ways to fix this: - first is to temporarily switch to default skin and make it pop up, then click the shortcut in the toolbar to make it disappear and switch back to minimal skin (i'm guessing this circle is first-time introduction to a panel shortcut)
- second way is to edit the image to make it completely transparent and map the trasnaprent image to the skin, which i'm going to include in the next version of the skin
I appreciate your feedback, it helps me with smashing the bugs, thanks!

Thanks so much! I really like the new design and I'm glad you fixed it - I actually managed to tweak some of the values myself, but then saw you uploaded your 1.02 version which looks really good.
However, I noticed another issue that is present in all previous and current versions of the skin.
I don't know how to fix it, but I know it concerns a asset called "startmenu_newItemHighlight.tga".
Basically, if I kill something as a Hunter, I get a small circular element that pops up and stays permanently on screen until logoff. I have provided two screenshots, one from before and one after.
So here's an example immediately after logging in. (Ignore the blurry bar at the bottom of the screen that's my taskbar)
Then, I kill something, and this small circular icon appears.
I looked up the assets in the latest skinning pack update I could find, for U14 and found this asset: startmenu_newItemHighlight.tga
I tried fixing the skin myself, by putting the asset into the toolbar_minimal folder, and then adding lines to map the asset tag and then defining the element to be a 0 by 0 item, but that caused my entire autoattack grouping to disappear so clearly I did something wrong.
However, hopefully this will be of use to you in finding and squashing this bug.
All the best.

Thanks for the feedback LivewareCascade! I've just uploaded a new version fixing the focus, fervor and attuenment alignment.
As for the dressing room, i'm not planning to make it larger (yet) and the reason is lower screen resolutions - it wouldn't fit on the screen. Feel free to play around with numbers though. It might be a bit more difficult than aligning toolbar because in dressing room you need to change sizes and positions of almost all child elements. (This is a secret but i'm working on a tool which generates the SkinDefinition.xml file automatically, all you need to do is enter a resolution and it adjusts whole interface including wardrobe. It's going to take a while to finish though.)

Hi, I use this interface on a 2560x1440 display and it works really well. However, I've noticed two things I would like to adjust. The first is that the focus bar that caps the auto-attack button is slightly right of where it should be, and gets hidden behind the buttons in the quick bars.
See this link for a picture of what I mean.
If you could tell me which values control the position of the focus bar, I'd be happy to dig in and start experimenting to find the correct position! I can then post them back here if you like.
Secondly, I like the fact that the dressing room is very large, but I would like to make it even larger. Which values should I alter to make it even larger than it already is?
