Description
Introduction

Festival Buddy II is a simple tool to help you keep track of the festivities through-out Middle-earth. It is an updated version of the original Festival Buddy, by Galuhad.

It will display the number of tokens in your wallet, when some effects have expired (e.g. the treasure chests in the Haunted Barrow), and a simple quest guide for those quests that are easily forgotten. There's also a dance instructor to help you with the dance quests, and a barter list showing the cost of all the items at the festival so you can refer to it on the go.

Midsummer is a complicated festival. It now has an integrated Quick Guide (based on LilRedHead's Quick Guide) you can use to keep track of all the interwoven quests of Minas Tirith. You can see a full walkthrough of the Minas Tirith Midsummer quests here.

Festival Buddy II is available at present in English and partially in French and German.

This plugin adds the following commands when loaded:
/festival - Shows/hides the main window.

Current festivals supported: Spring, Anniversary, Midsummer, Summer / Farmers Faire, Harvestmath, Yule, Hobnanigans.

Please let me know if you spot any errors, or if you have any requests.

Installation and Startup
  • Unzip the downloaded Festival Buddy II archive. You will get a folder called "CubePlugins". Move this folder into your Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/Plugins folder.
  • Or if you prefer, you may use Plugin Compendium to do the installation.

To load the plugin, use the game's built-in Plugin Manager. This can be found in the "^" menu, at the bottom of the screen. Click the icon, then choose "System" and then "Plugin Manager". (As a shortcut, you can also type "/plugins manager" in your chat window.)

When the Plugin Manager opens, find Festival Buddy II in the list on the left side. Click "Load" to load the plugin. If you would like the plugin to load automatically each time you login, choose your character's name in the "Automatically Load For" pulldown menu.

Known Issues
  • The mini-icon does not hide when the HUD is toggled. This will be fixed in the next release.
  • If a midsummer quick guide objective both ends a quest and tries to specify the next quest to be loaded into the main UI, the quest does not load into the main UI.
  • Hobnanigans is missing French and German strings, so automatic scoreboard doesn't work yet.

Revision History
  • 2023-06-20, version 2.0.1: Initial release of Festival Buddy II! Announcement here.

Thumbs up Re: Re: A Cure for All Ills

However, in case you didn't realize: whenever you turn in a quest all associated objectives get checked too. This means even [Check manually] objectives will eventually be removed. For 'A Cure for All Ills', that means once you talk to Ioreth this objective gets removed anyway.
I didn't realize that - that works as well! Thanks for the detail.

Great work on this B4!

I noticed that "A Cure for All Ills - Remove 6 Noisy Revellers" is a manual completion in the Quick Guide. It looks like when you speak with each one, I get the same message, "The reveller says nothing, but departs with a sour look." Would it be possible to count how many instances of this message appear and use that for the auto-completion of this item. Not knowing the complexity of such a thing, just passing along a suggestion for a future potential enhancement.

Thanks for making the Midsummer more enjoyable and repeatable!
Thank you! Yes, that's the rare exception that has an output but doesn't include a count in the output. By the time I realized that was an option, I didn't have time to add the ability to count how many of a message had appeared and still be able to release for this Midsummer.

However, in case you didn't realize: whenever you turn in a quest all associated objectives get checked too. This means even [Check manually] objectives will eventually be removed. For 'A Cure for All Ills', that means once you talk to Ioreth this objective gets removed anyway.

(As a corollary, whenever you accept a quest all associated objectives get unchecked. This covers the use-case that if you were partially through the list yesterday you don't need to hit the reset button today. Just grab whatever quests you'll do today and keep going.)
