Compactbar
by Rarehero
1. Features- Shrinks the toolbar, including the levelemeter while keeping its functionality
- The only button left, next to the auto-attack indicator, now opens the start-menu
- Fixes a small anomaly with the glass-overlay
- Three different versions (check preview image)
2. Installation- Go to C:\Users\Your Username\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ and create the folder UI. Open the folder an created the folder skins. These folders might exist already. The result should look like this: C:\Users\Your Username\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\UI\skins\
- The download contains the folders Compactbar Standard, Compactbar Mininal and Compactbar Invisible. Copy these folders to C:\Users\Your Username\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\UI\skins\.
- You'll have to modify the SkinDefintion.xml, if you play the game with a different resolution than 1680 x 1050. Each folder contains a SkinDefinition.xml with a detailed tutorial. Don't hesitate to ask for help, if you encounter any problems.
- Start the game and the select desired skin. If the game doesn't show any available skins, you have copied the skins into the wrong folder structure
- Relog (or restart the game if necessary) to make the changes work.
3. Comments
- Don't freak out, if your interface looks messy when you switch from "Compactbar" to any other skin. Just relog or restart your client.
- I know, that the "Minimal"- and "Invsible"-version could have been even smaller, but I didn't want you to relog or maybe even restart your client whenever you switch from version of the "Compactbar" to another. Therefore all three flavours have the same dimensions.

Hi there. I've tried installing these files and using directions I found in another thread I've managed to install to the right directory and the Options window does see the folder for the files. But when I select these skins they come up as a grey block with white lines inside it. I *do* see hints of your skin though, so it looks like it's trying to display it but it's not working completely. BTW, I did try the trick of adding the RightSlot_8 line as you suggested, didn't help. Thoughts?

First, I would suggest deleting the skin and re-installing it if it's totally broken (and particularly if you've already made changes to the xml which made the problems worse).
Second, make sure you've correctly modified the SkinDefinitions.xml to suit your game window resolution if necessary (the instructions are inside the file).
Third, look for this line:
<Element ID="ToolbarButton_RightSlot_7" X="0" Y="200" Width="1" Height="1" />
and add this line immediately after that one:
<Element ID="ToolbarButton_RightSlot_8" X="0" Y="200" Width="1" Height="1" />
This will adjust the skin to compensate for the presence of the new 6th bag button. I don't know if this fixes any UI problems with monster play, but after adding just that one line into the xml it's working fine for me in normal play using Invisible mode. It definitely wasn't working right for me anymore before I started from scratch.

Will there be an update of this UI for RoR?
I've tried to change a few things, but it doesn't work and now the compact bar won't allow clicking in monster play.
Would love an update for this, or a pointer to something similar that's updated for Rohan.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much. The instructions for adjusting the size of bar were simple and easy.

Very Very well done, love it, using it, and won't stop using it. This is my favorite LotRO UI mod/skin here. Keep it up!

Well, that was my intention. Get rid of the unnecessary stuff, make the bar more handy, keep the key functionality. Glad it works as intended. Thank you for your comment.

Thank you. Simple mod with good documentation and code layout made it easy to integrate it with other custom-sized windows in my existing layout file. You've addressed the awkwardly wide experience bar present in Wicked Mouse's Small Mainbar mod. You've also managed to remove more of the bar's visual frills yet retain the original LOTRO UI motif to make it feel right at home with other UI elements. Well done.
