Unhappy Help! Interface hidden and cannot get it back :(

I unselected to show icon when minimized and selected to use as my bags. Then I decided I didn't want to use it as my bag so I removed that option as well. Now I cannot get the Alt Intventory plugin to show its display at all on one of my characters! I already set all the options that I wanted on all of my other toons and would hate to have to uninstall and reinstall the plugin. Can you help me?

OK, so it appears to be working for me now as well. shrug.
Thanks for looking into it, regardless.

That's a possibility. Typically AltInventory is immune to this kind of interference since it runs in a separate apartment but the Chat object has some potential to be globally affected. If any of those plugins use a chat monitor but have not implemented it properly they can override other plugins' event handlers.

I will try to take a look at the plugins you listed to determine if the latest versions of them appear to have a conflict. Unfortunately my ability to test live is limited and probably will be limited for a couple of months (no game PC atm). The only one you listed that I know uses a chat handler is Combat Analysis but AFAIK it is correctly implemented. Do you use any of the "patches" for Combat Analysis? Which version of KragenBars do you use, the original or KragenBars2?

You can verify this yourself (which will probably get you your answer quicker) the next time you expect to gain a rep level by manually unloading and then reloading AltInventory AFTER all other plugins since AltInventory does correctly support multiple event handlers. If the rep changes, then the issue is definately one of the other plugins. Unfortunately, the Turbine Plugin Manager does not support setting the order in which plugins load so there is no way to force AltInventory to automatically load last - there is at least one manager plugin which allowed users to specify the order in which the plugins were loaded but I do not recall which one it was.

I just noticed that in your instructions, it says to set the intial levels. Is this required for it to start tracking rep changes?
Nope. If you don't set the initial levels it will simply stay unset until it detects a chat message.

EDIT:
I found an alt that was due to gain a rep tier and AltInventory correctly detected the change so AltInventory appears to be working correctly.

If for some reason you believe it didn't automatically catch a rep tier change let me know and I'll do a bit of debugging, but the last time I checked it, it was working just fine (the last test was for Kindred rep with Men of Dunland back in April - I haven't been playing much since some point in May when my game machine which was also used for most of my plugin testing fried).

Thanks for the comments. That functionality is already implemented for the EN client - has been since ver 2.07 even though it isn't mentioned in the version history (it got implemented at the same time that the crafting proficiency chat handler got implemented).

Unfortunately I never got around to adding the FR and DE support (most of the code is in place but the text format isn't as standardized as it is for english). Other than the FR and DE issue, the only other limitation is that it won't currently catch crafting guild rep since the message format is slightly different (there's actually some comments buried in the reppanel.lua file where I was starting to track down the format of the crafting guild stuff).

I don't see any error messages in the channel.

I was using it previously, but not as my main pack. I had the standard inventory running as my main pack. I didn't notice it until I replaced the standard with this. If I open the standard inventory first, and then Alt Inventory, it's already refreshed. Only happens when I open Alt Inventory first.

The only problem people should run into with bag 6 in AltInventory is that the built-in bag will display even if they have chosen the Replace Bags option. This will be addressed in version 2.12.

Sounds like fun and it can be..
However.. if you autoload altinventory for all charachters.
you've just created a new charachter for altinventory "-yourname"
empty bags empty vault of course and no cash in wallet. etc etc
but the shared storage is all there..

Scenario :
Deleting this "-yourname" charachter from altinventory caused a major issue
for me.

perhaps because this new charachter in altinventory became the top charachter on the list?

all charachters crafting trades became ... one up !!
char 2's trades became char 1, 3 became 2 etc etc etc

i think this is what happened ::::

as the new Bellina chicken charachter is entered as a new char. in altinventory and has no trades to speak of. therefore none were created because i dien't make any for the charchter..
so i'm guessing that the related plugindata upon deletion of this top char. became skewed by 1.

ok so i'm freaking out. don't know what to do...
and diden't take the the time to just close everything and think about it for a bit.. perhaps it could have returned to previous status with a bit of thought and examining saved data ?????

instead i just deleted all charchters.
and started over .. entering all their crafting recipies from scratch

some files did remain ??? the mastery listings seemed to have been untouched?

just a warning if your going to delete a charachter from this plugin. save a copy the datafiles before hand ???

Or better yet DO NOT Load altinventory for the "Bellina" chicken run instance.
I'm sorry to hear that you ran into a bug in the Remove Character code. It sounds as though you deleted the character while you were still logged in to the character. This is a bug in version 2.11 that I have already fixed for ver 2.12 since you shouldn't be allowed to delete the character you are currently logged in on.

However, there was no need to delete all of the other characters and start over. Since the data is all stored by character name, deleting the character just temporarily skews the display and as soon as you log back on any of the other characters it would have automatically gone back to the correct order.

If you had simply unloaded and reloaded the plugin, it would have instantly self corrected by recreating the current character. Alternately, if you had waited until you had completed the session play and were back on your regular character, you could have deleted the ~ version of your character with no problem. Session characters are one of the reasons why the Remove Character feature was originally added. The only current glitch is that the button is erroneously enabled in ver 2.11 for the "current" character and as I stated above, that has already been addressed for 2.12.

Please, next time you have a problem with a plugin, post a simple comment or question and give the author a chance to resolve or explain the situation before you make a simple problem much, much worse. You could have saved a considerable amount of time and work.

Re: Re: Kudos and future request

I've seen this kind of mechanism with add ons in other mmos. The add on created a custom chat channel to share the data. Though, I don't know that LotRO's API would offer the ability to sent text to or read from the chat window. They keep it locked down pretty tight to avoid abuse.

If it was possible then I could see something where the accounts that wished to share data would share a "key" with each other and the add on would then create/join the appropriate channel.
