Re: Mac OS functionality
I can only speak for myself in that question.
The plugin is Master Chirans awesome work. I just made some slight modifications to fit my needs in the plugin code.
Aftre all, LUA and me are not best friend, sotospeak...
Since I do not have done any programming on the Mac OS so far,
a Mac version will not happen in the near future.
(which means at least not in the next few weeks )
However, I am eager to try something on Mac OS, but it will take some time.
Maybe You can bring in a bit detail what exactly is the issue on the Mac.
The plugin is done in LUA which is running within Lotro so that should work.
I guess the problem is the creation of the database file, Macs are a bit nervous in terms of accessing the filesystem. If you can toss this job to a native Mac program it should work.
cheers

Will there be a modification so this works smoothly on the Mac OS? I'd love to use the plug-in but it has too many issues and work-a-rounds to work on the Mac. Thanks for the consideration and the handwork you put into the development of this plug-in!!

I believe there would be at least _some_ a bit more serious bands that might find it really useful. But obviously we are not talking about a huge group of people :-). One option is to post about it on the official Music System/Plugins forum to see if there's interest. Or we can just see if people notice this discussion and contact you about it.
In any case, I'm glad to see stuff like this .

Going public
Greets Master Chiran,
thx for the credit. It's most appreciated.
I am working with the programm for quite some time now managing well over 500 songs with it.
It's performing very good but I did not seriously think about going public with it yet.
Do You really think that someone else may want to use it?
Cheers

Wow, that's pretty cool, I like it! And it certainly seems really handy for bands. It also looks quite polished already. Are you planning to release a public version?

Sonngbook thrid Party Tool
Hiya,
Still working to improve this wonderful tool.
Graz to Chiran for finally getting rid of the euro save bug.
Well, I found it difficult to spread Music among my fellow musicans.
So i wrote some Software to help me out.
A Server and a Client part.
One to create the Songbook DB according to my wishes and an Update programm that takes away the rebuild of the songbook databasefile form the musican.
Best thing is the ability to setup a certain list of instruments i want to export to prevent people to get all my precious files
A simple click on update - done. The musican got the latest version of my Music folder.
At least the files i want to give him...hehe
In detail the updater is conneting to an ftp server, downloading the music files an the already done Songbook Data File.
During update it includes possible own Music files of the user into the Songbook DB File. So the user does not lose his own Music or has to rename or copy anything.
Let me know what you thing about it.

This one worked for me! It found my account (I have two accounts but only one has logged in on this computer, and only that one was found) and I was able to log into the game and all my music was there. Thanks for the quick turnaround!

Good to hear! And it should find the other account as well once you log in with it .

Hi, Elinnea, Travelorn (and any others having a similar problem)
Could you try this newer version for me? It should hopefully get the information from the new file.
If it works for me and you as well, then I'll post a new version with it included.
Thanks,
-Chiran

Ok, I figured out the problem. The user names needed are now in a different file in a different location. Since the old file is still there you don't see the problem unless you add new accounts or re-install Windows from scratch. I'll try to come up with a solution soon.

Re: Re: trouble with multiple accounts
I did an old-fashioned install, and yes, extensive changes were made to the Launcher in U11 and 11.1.
I will try to determine if WAN Songbook Filler is the same one I have tried which also failed.
EDIT - WAN Songbook Filler is not the one that failed. Moreover, it successfully found all of my accounts. Hooray.
EDIT2 - No, I cannot locate the file you specify, but that may be more a matter of my own personal tech bafflement.

Since making a small handful of alt accounts, Songbook no longer lists any when I try to build a song library - inconvenient, as I have drastically changed my song file collection. Any advice?
Just saw your reply below this. Songbook Filler also does not recognize any user accounts, nor does manually typing in an account name work - it freezes on searching for files.
|
Did WAN Songbook filler also fail? Also, are you using Steam or old fashioned install? I'm beginning to think that Turbine has changed something regarding launcher. Although, I don't know what since I haven't been able to see this error yet.
Can you find this file on your computer?
c:\Users\<windows user>\AppData\Local\Turbine\The Lord of the Rings Online\Launcher\LauncherUserSettings.xml

I recently installed Lotro on a new computer, and now I can't get the Songbook hta file to recognize any account. I read in the FAQs that it uses the LauncherUserSettings.xml file to find the account, but I can't locate any such file. I tried using the exe file as well, but it got an unhandled exception error. I could provide the more detailed error report, but I think it's the same issue of being unable to find the game account name. I downloaded Lotro using Steam this time, which I had never done before.

I have to say that I don't know if Steam install is different or not. I noticed this thread about the LauncherUserSettings.xml file. It's about a bit different issue but it has some discussion about its location at least. Then there's also this tool that may work better for you.
I'm sorry I don't have a solid answer yet. Are there other Steam users here who could be of assistance?

Do you know what I have to do to get Songbook working on this computer?
P.S. Thanks for your amazing work and support for Songbook, it's my #1 plugin to install as soon as I'm able.
