This is an application that will let you see how a skin looks, without having to log in to the game.
A couple of things to note:
1. This app does not support the new size/location changes that came with Shores of Evendim.
2. You may need to download the latest DirectX runtime updates:
DirectX June 2007 Update
Just unzip the downloaded file and run. Please keep the files that come in the zip in the same directory, or the app may crash. You can however replace the files if you like, but keep the names the same.
To view a skin, click on the open file button and select a SkinDefinition.xml file to view, or use the pulldown to select an installed skin.
If you hover the mouse over a button on the menustrip, a tooltip will show you what the button will do.
Any parts of the skin that are missing will default to a checker board type image, but you can turn them off by clicking on the 'Hide Tiles' button.
VERSION INFO
Version 3.5: Message will point to which skin XML file is incorrectly formatted if the program cannot read the data properly. Will also display a message to try and help point to the specific issue.
Version 3.4: Fixed an issue with reading compress TGAs, again. They work much nicer now.
Version 3.3: Fixed the issue with the File->Open method of openning skins to not work.
Todo: Nothing. This is probably the last version of the skin viewer in its current form. I am working on a Skin Editting package with much more functionality. However, I will continue to fix bugs as I find them or they are pointed out.

Sweet!
This is great! I wish I could do this stuff, but I am content with using other people's programs. Thanks for all the hard work!

Hi,
I suppose that you're completing your Skin Viewer but i would to tell you some wishes i have.
I would like to see :
- the Main Box Close Button (titlebar_X_2)
- the buttons style in menu (textbutton)
- the Tooltip
- Chat Elements
you're surely working on it.

Hi Asghaard,
It is my hope that I will be able to get all the UI elements into the viewer, to make it as close to in-game as possible.
-tooltip will be in the next release
Thanks for letting me know what some of the ArtAssetIds are for too, that helps.

Waiting to see the finished product
I think it is a great Idea to use WOW Images as it is a popular game. I really can't wait to get the finished files to use them. But you might think about putting in a directions on how to install the files into the LOTRO game directory so that the addons will work.

Draxum, I think that you're on the wrong thread if you speak about "my" WoW Skin.
The thread is here.
To install the Skin, go into your "My Documents/Lord of the Rings Online" directory (not the directory where is the game) and create a directory nammed "ui" ... and put the skin in it.
To activate the Skin, go in the UI options window in game and in the bootom, you will find a list of your skins, select it and it's all.
You can find the procedure here : http://community.codemasters.com/for...d.php?t=149176
Quote:
Activating Your Skin- To activate your skin, launch the game.
- Open the Options panel, Ctrl-O.
- Click the "User Skins" button.
- In the "Current User Skin" droplist, select your skin.
- The UI changes!
If your skin is not in the list, it failed to parse. Make sure your tags are all specified and closed!
Currently, the game must be relaunched whenever a new skin is added or a change is made to an existing skin.

thank you D.H1cks,
I'm continuing developpe my interface and it's very boring to swicth between the game and my Desktop.
Good work !
Edit :
there's a mistake, with the tooltip, I think that you've reversed "top" and "bottom" position.

Yup, silly me. It has been fixed in the this version.
Edit: Coming soon, mouseover and clicks that actually change the image.

Very good job, wonderful.
Too bad that I have finished my interface skin.
The rollover and pressed system is what i was wainting for.
For the text button order, you can maybe write the name over or in the side of the button (and possibility to hide or not the name of the button to just look at the button design).
It misses the "panel_border "and the "options_panel_divider".
For the autoattack button, it misses also 3 others positions.
There a little reversion with the "tab_tier1_middle_back_e" and "tab_tier1_middle_back_w".
Thanks a lot for your excellent work.

I thought about that, and I might still do it. I am hoping to figure out the color and font of the in-game text, to make it look right.

Ya, the three 'highlighted' version. Will look at adding a toggle button to switch between normal and highlighted.

Yikes. Guess it's time I made some .tga images to make sure they are right.

Can you add a way to view the mail window so Asghaard can make a skin for it? Thanks!

You don't know how much this tool helps. It reduces tedium from exiting out of the game sooo much.

I am very happy that people find the tool useful. Don't forget, you can post feature requests for the tool. I cannot guarantee I can do all the requests, but I will do as much as I can.
On a side note, I am quite busy with work and school these days, so updates may be a little slow in coming.
