Use PvMP UI skin for normal play?

Just a quick question: Is it possible to use the PvMP UI skin when playing normal characters or is this skin only available when playing as a monster?

Reason is simple: I like the dark look of the PvMP skin.

You can use a skin for monsterplay as a character and other way around, but some elements are called differently in monsterplay than a Free Peoples' character. So some things may need to be converted/renamed when you want to use a skin for the other side.

Officially you can't (no Turbine support).
Unofficially you can (via skinning).

You might be able to find some conversations of the stock creep skin for the freeps but they are most likely badly outdated so you need to work on them quite a bit to get them work properly.

And as WM stated above in addition to that the stock creep skin only cowers a small portion of the freep skin ID tags.

Ok, thanks for answering.

So I guess it is not possible to simply transfer the artwork alone from creeps to freeps and one would need to create matching artwork for the missing parts? Correct so far?

tbh I haven't checked what creep parts the newest art asset pack includes.

You shouldn't need to do any photoshopping for the files that are available in the stock creep UI. They should pretty much work on the freep side (except you might need to flip some vital frame art) as they are.

If you wanna have a total conversation then you'll need to boot up your picture editor and start painting the missing parts.

In addition to the graphic parts of the skin you will need a file that assigns those files in the skin. This file is called skindefinition.xml.

If you wanna give it a go you can get the turbine skin resources from
http://www.lotrointerface.com/downlo...inArtPack.html

And check out this old project here to give you a clue how to start (note that this is an really old project and probably badly outdated)

Thanks again for the links, they should be helpful to figure out how it works. So far, I have not found the creeps artwork in the official assets package, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist in there. There is a lot to check - more than 2000 files for a UI is quite impressive.

I was also checking out the MonsterTime skin you linked here and figured it should be possible to develop a "partial" skin that just overrides a few things and leave everything else to the default UI?

Yup. You can do a partial skin. The parts you don't customize stays as it is.
