bootstrap plugin manager not loading other plugins

hi
first of all this is my first attempt to use plugins, but have successfully used skins in past

i wanted to use tonic bars and daily tasks plugins but decided to start with a manager so it would be easier if had manager

anyway im using xp and have one of the ivy skins loaded

i used winzip to extract all the files

started by extracting the beta lua 7 file to

My Documents/The Lord of The Rings/Plugins/

got bootstrap manager loaded correctly in
My Documents/The Lord of The Rings/Plugins/

tried it in game and it loaded great and i could see the sample plugins from the turbine folder

then tried loading tonicbars and daily tasks plugins in
My Documents/The Lord of The Rings/Plugins/

went back into game after restarting client but could not see tonic bars or daily tasks plugins as options on bootstrap manager

also tried /plugins refresh but still couldn't see those two plugins

am i putting them in the wrong folder? i thought they all went into the /Plugins folder?

thanks for any help

You are correct that they go under the /plugins folder. The folder structure should look something like:

/plugins
..../author1
........abcdef.plugin
........abcdeg.plugin
......../abcdef
............somefiles.lua
......../abcdeg
............someotherfiles.lua
..../author2
............ghijkl.plugin
......../ghijkl
............somemorefiles.lua

In the above example, you would have 3 plugins from 2 authors - it is expected that each author will keep their plugins in a single subfolder of /Plugins to keep things organized. The first two plugins would be from author1 and the third from author2. The .plugin files that describe the plugin, version and path to the main .lua file must reside in a sub-folder of the /Plugin folder (the author's folder). It is then customary for the actual .lua files to be in a sub-folder under the author's folder.

In the case of Tonic Bars, there is a "tonicbars" folder level in the zip file that is extraneous. You have to extract the Tonic folder that is inside the "tonicbars" folder to your /Plugins folder, so the Tonic Bars folder structure should look like:
/Plugins
..../Tonic
........TonicBars.plugin
......../TonicBars
............somefiles
......../UI
............somemorefiles
......../Utils
............somemorefiles

That should set you on the right path to figuring out the correct folder layout for your other plugins.

In addition to what Garan wrote:
The DailyTasks zip file is lacking a subfolder, so it's quite likely the reason for that one.

Basically, there's a good chance you have TonicBars residing one folder too deep while DailyTasks is one folder short.

To fix DailyTasks, you can create a "Vinny" (name of the author) subfolder in /plugins and extract Daily Tasks there.

thanks for the replies

that seems to be exactly it

1 folder too deep for tonic bars due to top folder 'tonicbars', do i do away with this folder or just move its subfolder 'tonic' to same level eg /plugins/tonic....can you have both at same level??

ill try the daily task add folder as well

subfolders

thanks guys
that worked

according to read me file.......guess you really need to read those

daily task needs to extracted to

/plugins/my plugins

which you place the daily tasks and the common folders into

now all work fine with bootstrap

cool!!

Ooops, forgot to check which folder it really was that plugin needed. Glad you got it sorted!

For Tonic Bars, moving the sub folder one level higher will do the trick (and you can remove the now empty folder).
