Custom UI Skinning comes to DDO!

Welcome Dungeons & Dragons Online™: StormReach™ players! With the upcoming content patch next week, you will be able to create and apply custom skins to your user interface! And with that, LotROInterface goes dual-purpose.

Back in November, Quarion of Turbine’s Dungeons & Dragons Online community contacted us about the possibility of us providing fan-site support for the upcoming custom ui skinning for DDO. Obviously we jumped at the chance!

Given that the mechanics of custom ui skinning in DDO is the same as it is in LotRO, with their permission we decided to make this site serve both games, at least for now. Much of the developer information that you read in the LotRO forums applies equally to DDO. The main difference, obviously, is the file names and sizes. But the methodology is the same for either game.

We have a tutorial for creating custom user interface skins in DDO in our Guides & Tutorials section.

In addition, we have created a separate set of forums and download categories for DDO on our site. As well, Quarion provided a UI Skin Package which is available in the Developer Utilities for DDO download category. You can get it here. (Aka, this file is for meant for authors to use in the creation of custom interfaces, not for end-users).

So again, welcome DDO players! We look forward to seeing the creative skins you come up with to enhance the enjoyment of the game for many!

Your work is very much appreciated

Let me be the first of many hopefully who come from the DDO forums to thank you for your work in designing a customizable UI for our game.

As has been mentioned DDO's subscriber base may not be that of "World of Warcraft" or a few of the newest MMORPG's but we have a dedicated hardcore group of players who really enjoy the game. It's great to see Turbine subscribers working in harmony helping in the development of new tools for each of their games!

Thanks again

Most Sincerely,

Vizzini (Khyber/Reidra)
