Interesting announcement -- Steam now offers LOTRO
Today 6 June Steam announced that LOTRO was available.
There is a thread in the forums about it. http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...LOTRO-on-Steam |
this could be the smartest move turbine has made with lotro in a looong long time.
steam knows how to market. the steam starter pack is a good deal too for new players..its onsale right for 15usd and is well worth it. |
Not just for new players, at the $14.99 special offer price I applied it to a VIP account for the 1000TP and a free 168% horse for every character created :)

Lotro is already linked against steam libs:
Code:
bidar@odin:~/.local/share/wineprefixes/lotro/drive_c/Programme/Der Herr der Ringe Online|15:48$ strings lotroclient.exe | grep -i steam |
Steam Libraries and LOTRO.
LOTRO was linked to the Steam Libraries quite some time ago... maybe as far back as update 5, last fall. I don't recall. However, the Official announcement from Steam and the inclusion in their on-line store was just made.

Yes, Turbine has indicated that while Steam is handling the distribution, Turbine still manages all accounts -- that is to say, any "Steam Deals" can be applied to any Turbine account. It is a good deal for anybody upgrading from F2P to VIP. |
