we don't do anything scary with the directory name (I think).
we take the directory that the UserPreferences.ini file lives in and add "/ui/skins" ... then we load up any SkinDefinition.xml files we find in the subdirectories. Can you tell my if the greek windows OS is a multi-byte character OS? If it doesn't work for you, it might not work for our asian partners either.... Is anyone else using a foreign language version of the game from Codemasters? French/Great British/German? Can you skin the game? -P |
You shouldn't rename the My Documents Folder. What you instead could try is this:
Create an english My Documents. then you right click and select properties on the greek version of my docs and select as target the english named My documents. That aside, sine LOTRO seems to create and read the ini file correctly, I would say this is simply a bug and should be reported to Codemaster/Turbine. EDIT: oops, didn't see page 2 of the thread and Frosty's reply |
My friend changed something through the registry, it was the only way he could get it to work. A safer way might be to use Tweak Manager available for download here http://www.pctools.com/tweak-manager/.
There make the same folders but in English and change it (it has that option there somewhere) and see it that works.. It should. Good luck friends! |
reply to frosty...
Frosty, i'm not that able with computers but i believe that
the Greek winXP is a multi-byte character OS... If it matters somehow I can verify this for you. just post how... |
Hello,
finally after many of tries fixed it so i can enjoy my costum Ui. As Elestin suggested, i dled Tweak Manager and Made and file "My documents" into C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\ and with Tweak manager i assinged this file as my "My documents" file instead the other "my documents" file that was with greek characters and after this everything worked fine and now i am able to use every ui i download:) . So the problem was that documents file was with greek characters so i had to change to english. Thanks to Elestin for the tips and to everyone who atleast try to help me. -Fixer |
Maybe...
Good work Fixer!
it's a nice workaround. But i'm afraid to use it! I 've no idea how the rest of the installed programs will react to a change like this. I've seen many strange things and if the rest of the programs see this as an act of war and cease to function won't be a surprise... But i'm happy for you! I would love a UI a bit darker than the original. |
Good good sweet, glad i could help! :D
