like me to set up an IRC channel? I know that our devs over on WoW absolutely love having a channel where they can help one another out, bounce ideas off each other, test mods, hang out, etc and so on. It's easy breezy for me to set one up for you guys if you'd like.

While a chat channel is nice to get a quick answer on your problem when the right people are on-line, it is only limited to the people on-line at the moment. When you post a question/answer on a forum, it's available for everyone. Hopefully you only have to answer a question only once this way.

You are absolutely correct. However, it's not like I'm talking about making a channel and shutting down the forums. ;)

But all teasing aside, I just know that my WoW UI Devs love their channel, we've constantly got 150+ online at any given time. It's just an additional tool that can be available if you guys want, so I thought I'd make the offer for you guys too. :)

that's actually a pretty great idea, It would give me a reason to use irc for more than just blackcats

IRC would be pretty cool, maybe you could set up a web-based interface, such as through Mibbit - to make things a bit more user friendly for those who would be lost in a "proper" irc client like mirc?

Okay, well, channel is available if you guys want it:

irc://irc.freenode.net/LotROUIDev

If you have mibbit or whatever installed, clicking on that link should give you the option to open it using mibbit. If you have an actual irc or multi-protocol program installed, it's on the freenode.net irc servers, channel is #LotROUIDev.

freenode apparently doesn't like mibbit, and they suggest using:

http://webchat.freenode.net/

instead (reason here (http://blog.freenode.net/2009/06/new-freenode-webchat-and-why-to-use-it/)).

Also, Chatzilla (for firefox) is another solution for those without a standalone client.
