JRR Azure Glass

Standalone skin

(Can be installed with or without JRR skins collection)

Latest update :

Version 5.17 - December 23 2015

- It looks like Turbine inverted two frames in the auto attack buttons sequences, I dunno when. I've fixed them.
- Better integration with monster play UI.
- Changed a litlle bit how the name of the target is displayed on the vital portrait, to better support very long names.
- A few other minor improvements here and there.

Older release notes are logged here.

Introduction :

This Azure Glass release offers you an updated and improved edition of the popular original skin Azure Glass, created by Enfield.

Choose between the 7 toolbars at your disposal :

JRR Azure Glass features several profiles named "universal" "1x1", "1x2", "2x2", "3x2" and "Basic".
The only difference between these "profiles" is a different main toolbar, as shown below (captions aren't real size) :

- The skin "_JRR Azure Glass *Universal*" allows you to freely place additional quickslot bars (1 to 5) in the same way than the lotro default skin does.
This is the only profile which not requires to manually edit the skindefinition.xml file to center the toolbar depending your display resolution.

- The skin "_JRR Azure Glass 1x1 BGM" allows you to freely stack one column of quickslot bars in the same way that most of the skins do.
On this toolbar profile, the system buttons are not shown.

- The skin "_JRR Azure Glass 1x1" allows you to freely stack one column of quickslot bars in the same way that most of the skins do.

- The skin "_JRR Azure Glass 1x2" allows you to place 2 quickslot bars within the main toolbar frame. (The default one plus quickslot bar 1)

- The skin "_JRR Azure Glass 2x2" allows you to place 4 quickslot bars within the main toolbar frame. (The default one plus quickslot bars 1 to 3)

- The skin "_JRR Azure Glass 3x2" allows you to place 6 quickslot bars within the main toolbar frame. (The default one plus quickslot bars 1 to 5)

- The skin "_JRR Azure Glass *Basic*" allows you to freely stack 2 columns of quicklsot bars side by side.
As the other azure glass bars, it can display the small rune keeper's attunement bar. (based on Multibar Clean toolbar)

Rune keeper's small attunement meter :

Azure Glass supports mini attunement display, within the main bar, in the same place than champion's fervor.

To enable this feature, open LotRO's option panel -> "UI settings" tab -> "Attunement panel size" (a select box a bit under the skin selection select box) -> set it to "small".

Installation instructions :

- Step 1 : Download the file from this page, then unpack it on your desktop.

- Step 2 : Do you know which is your LOTRO client's display resolution ? (if you play in full screen, it should be your native screen's resolution).
  • If yes, you can jump to step 3
  • If you ignore it, just open the option panel in LOTRO and select the first tab called "graphic" as shown on the picture below :

  • If you play in fullscreen mode, note your corresponding resolution (the first is the width, the second is the height).
  • If you play in window mode, note your corresponding resolution, then open the Lotro option panel, select UI settings tab and set the toolbars scale to any value other than 1.00 (0.99 is ok).
  • If your resolution is already 2560x1440 Jump to step 4

- Step 3 : Your LOTRO display resolution IS NOT 2560x1440 pixels, so you need to manually edit the skindefinition.xml files present in the folder you unpacked.
They are located in the sub folders named _Basic toolbar, _Universal toolbar, 1x1 toolbar, 1x2 toolbar, 2x2 toolbar and 3x2 toolbar.
Edit each skindefinition.xml file corresponding to the profile(s) you plan to use.
To edit a skindefinition.xml file, open it with Window's Notepad, Notepad++ (it's a freeware) or any else text editor.
Don't panic ! You'll just have to modify 2 numbers near the beginning of the text The needed explanations about what to do there are logged in the skindefinition.xml file.
Read well, the number isn't the same for all the profiles.

- Step 4 : Your skindefinition.xml files are set to fit your personal resolution.
  • - Copy the "JRR AzureGlass" folder in your "my documents" --> "The Lord of the Rings Online" (this is where your LOTRO sreenshots are located) --> "UI" --> "skins" (plural) folder.
    If UI and/or skins folders don't exist, create it.
  • Exit LOTRO client if it is running, then (re)launch LOTRO.
  • Log on the character onto you want to apply the _JRR Azure**** profile. Select the theme from the panel menu --> UI Settings, as shown on the picture below.

In order to be displayed at the correct position, it requires you have the toolbar's default size defined in the option panel, as follow :

- Step 5 : Once you have selected the skin/profile you want for your character, you have to logout then login back to get the new custom parameters applied.

- Step 6 : Concerning the quickslot bars (12 slots each), the skin parameters can handle only the default one, the other quickslot bars must be positioned by the user.

If you don't how how to proceed :

1) Open your Option menu
2) Go to "UI Settings"
3) Go to "Quickslot Bars"
4) Select the Bar you wish to use (1-5)
5) On that Bar, check "Always Show" and make sure it's not docked
6) Add an Ability to that bar (for alignment purposes)
7) Use " Ctrl + * " or " Ctrl + \ " to unlock your UI
8) Drag the Quickslot Bar into the Bottom Bar graphic and align it
9) Lock your UI (" Ctrl + * " or " Ctrl + \ ") and you're ready to go !

FAQ and known issues :

When using toolbar profiles 1x2, 2x2 or 3x2 profiles, after character has loaded, the quickslot bar 3 (and only this one) looks greyed, because it has "fallen" to the background of the toolbar !
This is a lotro client issue, it is visual only, everything still works ! It occurs wherever the quiclslot 3 is located on the toolbar.
Fortunately, clicking on any slot of this bar brings it back to the front for all the duration of your game session.
- If you're using the 1x2 or 2x2 toolbar profile, this issue can be avoid by simply replacing the quicklot bar 3 by quickslots 4 or 5 in your toolbar.
- For the 3x2 toolbar profile, you can replace the quickslot bar 3 by another one created with Tonicbars or any other slot bar managing plugin.

- I just installed Azure Glass and selected one of the skins on my character, some panels are displayed in a strange manner, like upside down.
Logout then login back, this is a necessary step to apply the new custom panel settings.

- I just installed the last version of this Azure Glass release and selected it on my character, but some panels backgrounds or other elements are replaced by a light-grey frame
If only a few elements are greyed, this can be an error from my side (indicating a wrong location of a file in the skin). Don't hesitate to report me this kind of issues.

- The map is no more fullscreen !
This is not a bug, this is a skinning choice, it is really convenient in some situations, and on multi screen systems.
In fact this displays the map in its actual size, without the zooming blur.
Advanced users can revert it by deleting the "Map Window" section in the skindefintion.mxl file of the used skin(s) profile(s), and repeat this operation after every Azure Glass update.

- My character doesn't show in the dressroom !
JRR skins doesn't supports resolutions with a height below 768 pixels.
If you run Lotro with a resolution height equal to 768, you have to play in fullscreen mode to get the dressroom correctly displaying the character.
Higher resolutions allow to play indifferently in fullscreen or windowed modes.

- The auction house panel is too big !
Your screen is too small ^^
If you run Lotro with a resolution height equal to 768, you have to play in fullscreen mode to get the auction house panel entirely displayed and usable.
Higher resolutions allow to play indifferently in fullscreen or windowed modes.

"Toolbars buttons don't push"
Since Rohan, Turbine bugged the toolbar code, then you now have to edit the "Y" value of the toolbar code in addidition of its "X" value.
All needed explanations about what to do are logged into the skindefinition.xml files.
These files are located in the Azure Glass skins profiles folders.
You can open and edit them with Window's Wordap or any else texte editor software.
I you play in window mode or switch between window mode and fulscreen mode, you can bypass the "Y" issue by simply setting the toolbar scale to a value different than 1.00 ( in lotro option panel -> UI settings tab) (0.99 or 1.01 is ok).

Panels enhancements included in each "JRR" skin :

- A taller dressing room
- A taller barter panel
- A taller quest log

- A taller mail panel
- A taller vendor panel
- A taller crafting panel, with localization fixes

for toolbar 3x2 try :

Code:
 Resolution 3440x1440 =>   <Element ID="ToolbarField" X="1208" Y="1265" Width="1024" Height="175">
for toolbar 2x2 try :
Code:
 Resolution 3440x1440 =>   <Element ID="ToolbarField" X="1208" Y="1296" Width="1024" Height="175">
Both are intended to be used on a single screen, to place the toolbar at the bottom middle of it.

Hello,

The formula depends the toolbar you wanna use, except Universal profile which works out of the box in any resolution and supporting windowed mode.

Or i can define a custom resolution by altering the values

Code:
<!-- Map Window, by Eclipse -->
<PanelFile ID="ID_UISkin_MapPanel">
<Element ID="MapBackground" X="0" Y="0" Width="1024" Height="768"> </Element>
</PanelFile>
<!-- End of Map Window -->
1024 to 1600
768 to 1200

or just about anything as long as the proportions are right.

I can also center it if needed by changing X and Y values which defines distance to upper left corner. But I imagine that could mess up coordinates.

Quite simple, one only has to know in which file.

EDIT. I take that back. It did not work. Does it inherit values from somewhere else?

@Marancil

You can edit the skindefinition.xml file and change the size of the map, but it's not intended to be done, so it can not work or lead to report wrong coordinates when hovering the map with your mouse cursor.

To restore fullscreen map just delete these line from the skindefinition.xml file.

<PanelFile ID="ID_UISkin_MapPanel">
<Element ID="MapBackground" X="0" Y="0" Width="1024" Height="768"> </Element>
</PanelFile>

Any way to resize the map, it roughly takes 1/8 of the screen and even if a "windowed" map like that is appreciated in terms of not loosing sight of the game, with my resolution it is too small.

Hi, yes, I noticed.
I selected Full Screen since I thought "something" would make that easier for any troubleshooting, but when I restored my default view FullScreen Windowed, it picked up the Interface like a charm.

As far as I can see right now, everything works, and looks, correct.

Now I just have to align the toolbars, always a bit fiddly.

Thanks

Hello,

After editing /saving changes in xml files you must close then relaunch Lotro to apply the new values.

Ensure both your monitor and lotro graphic options are set to 3840x2160, fullscreen mode.

Secondly, after you have selected a skin on your character, unlog then relog it to get the custom panels and the toolbar correctly displayed.

3840x2160

Thank you very much for this lovely skin.

I write because I have some issues getting it to work on Resolution 3840x2160.

I have added this resolution to the tables in the different XML files, after calculating how it should scale:
  • _Basic toolbar : Resolution 3840x2160 => <Element ID="ToolbarField" X="1497" Y="2027" Width="846" Height="133">
  • _Universal toolbar: None
  • 1x1 toolbar: Resolution 3840x2160 => <Element ID="ToolbarField" X="1497" Y="2027" Width="645" Height="100">
  • 1X1 toolbar BGM: Resolution 3840x2160 => <Element ID="ToolbarField" X="1642" Y="1960" Width="555" Height="200">
  • 1x2 toolbar: Resolution 3840x2160 => <Element ID="ToolbarField" X="1408" Y="2050" Width="1024" Height="110">
  • 2x2 toolbar: Resolution 3840x2160 => <Element ID="ToolbarField" X="1408" Y="2016" Width="1024" Height="144">
  • 3x2 toolbar: Resolution 3840x2160 => <Element ID="ToolbarField" X="1408" Y="1985" Width="1024" Height="175">

in all relevant xml files, as specified, for all the variants of them toolbars. It does not seem to place the toolbar elements correctly, comes up with gaps and icons are not resized properly. The toolbars themselves end up centered. Only the Universal seems to position the icons more or less correctly but Store and Attack Circle are not aligned/resized.

You do write about running in FullScreen (Windowed) might require additional changes in values, so I have not done that, I ran the test in FullScreen mode to give you proper feedback.

I also include several screenshots of the layout, perhaps you can guide my efforts via them?

Basic

Universal

1x1

1X1BGM

1x2

2x2

3x2

Version 4.17 - December 01 2015

- The skill banks switching buttons (sword/shield/horse) became 99% obsolete since Update 12, as it seems Turbine will never fix the "amnesic" shield bank.
This JRR Azure Glass update hides this function on custom toolbars (= all but "Universal"), this means you won't anymore click accidentally on it during a fight !
Please note that "1x1 BGM" toolbar has now its lotro store button located at the right.
- Nothing more, nothing less. Turbine engineers haven't published new skinning pack updates since U14 (July 2014).

For advanced users, here is the same custom code than in my previous comment, except it contains only the bag #1.
This code is dedicated to players looking for transparency/minimal UI.

As custom codes are not compliant for now with resizeable panels, this inventory panel is NOT RESIZEABLE on the fly, you have to give your bag the width/length you want before before appliying this skin code on your character, it will keep the bag settings you defined.
You can still temporary get back to the default skin to resize your bag like you want.

Applied on the default skin, or in extended and enhanced panels, it looks like this :

To implement it into a skin, open with notepad / wordpad the skindefinition.xml file of the skin you want to modify, go to the end of the file, then copy-paste the following code just before the last line " </opt> " , save the file, you're done.
Now just restart lotro if it was still running to enjoy this new feature.
To restore the previous bag appearance, just delete the code from your skindefinition.xml file.

Code:

<PanelFile ID="ID_UISkin_BackpackView1_Template">
  <Element ID="PlayerBag1_Template" X="1141" Y="166" Width="206" Height="1">
    <Element ID="MiniBagGraphic" X="2" Y="22" Width="20" Height="20"> </Element>
    <Element ID="SlotDraggers_DragState" X="10" Y="66" Width="187" Height="328">
      <Element ID="Box_01_Empty_InnerShadow" X="1" Y="1" Width="1" Height="1">
        <Element ID="InnerShadow_TopLeft" X="0" Y="0" Width="9" Height="9"> </Element>
        <Element ID="InnerShadow_MidLeft" X="0" Y="9" Width="9" Height="308"> </Element>

EDIT : Here you can find the code to display the 6 bags without borders nor title bar nor close button.
http://tiers-age.leforum.eu/t263-Mis...start=15#p7717
Bag 1 is, by nature, a bit particular, but the other bags are displayed as they were in "ultra mini packs".

Using this codes make the bags become no more resizeable.

Hi and thanks for your support
Much deserved.

The customized bag codes were not functioning anymore, so I removed them from the skindefinition.xml files.
This is a bit disappointing as I wanted to get rid of the title bit at the top of the inventory bags. <sigh> Oh well.

Thanks again.
