Minimal Header view for those who don't want the "Turbine Vault" look.
 
Description
If you are an altaholic like me, you have spent countless hours logging characters in and out looking for where you put crafting supplies or trophies. Alt Inventory allows you to view a snapshot of your alt's bag inventory, vault and shared storage without leaving game so that you know which character has how many of which items.


NOTE: THIS AND ALL OTHER INVENTORY PLUGINS ONLY HAVE ACCESS TO BAGS, EQUIPPED ITEMS, VAULT AND SHARED STORAGE CURRENTLY. There is no access to Housing Storage or Wardrobe. As soon as Turbine grants Lua plugins access to any other form of storage I and most other developers will add that to our plugins.


Finally, the long awaited version 3.0 update has arrived.


Alt Inventory allows you to quickly and easily view all of your inventory for your character, your alts, all vaults, and shared storage in one view. You can filter the display by item category or enter a case-insensitive search (accent-insensitive as well so this works for DE and FR clients as well!) for an item by name. You can sort the view by Name, reverse Name, Category or Quality. You can also choose to display icons and text, text only or icons only. The window is resizable and movable, will disappear for clean screenshots and can be opened from an icon when desired or by the chat command "/altinventory show".


Version 3.0 now focuses only on inventory display. The Item Tracking features are now a separate plugin, ItemTracker and all non-inventory displays will be in AltViewer. This separation of functionality allows the plugin to function far more efficiently as well as allowing all of the inventories to be merged into a single display.

Quantity details can be viewed by hovering over the name of the item. In the "ALL" view, this will display how many of the item are in each type of storage by character. In an individual storage view (single character, vault or Shared Storage) the detail will show how many are in each container within that storage ("Chests" for vaults and Shared Storage and "Bags" for character).

Tooltips will display when you hover over the icon of any item that your current character can access - if you open your vault, then any item in the vault will show a tooltip even after leaving the vault-keeper until you unload the plugin. Items with a grey and red dotted border will not display a tooltip.


Known Issues:
The mini-icon funtionality has not been implemented in version 3.0 but will return in a future version.

Future plans: a long vacation in a warm climate. oh, for the plugin. um, well, not too many plans until we see what update 10 brings us.

Added "Use Mini Icon" option. Changes the 32x32 square icon to a 16x16 round icon suitable for placement on the compass ring.
Fixed a bug which sometimes prevented the Sort from being properly applied when adding an item (items were sometimes being added in incorrect positions).

Doubled the width of the item entries for Text only display to allow for extra long item names

____________________Installation__________________ __
To install the Alt Inventory plugin, unzip the entire zip file to your Plugins folder. If you had the game running when you installed the plugin, you will have to type "/plugins refresh" or close and restart the game.

To run the plugin, simply load it. Type "/plugins load altinventory" in your game chat window or set the plugin to load automatically from the Turbine Plugin Manager (type "/plugins manager" in chat or access from the System menu).

When you first close the Alt Inventory window, the icon will appear in the lower left corner of your display, you can drag it to any location you want by holding Ctrl while you drag it and the next time it loads it will remember it's location.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, Turbine has restricted plugins from generic file usage so plugins can only read/write .plugindata files. So, it is not possible to save to any other format directly from the plugin. That said, it is possible for an external application to read the file and either process it directly or save it in a different format. Unfortunately, I am tied up with RL stuff right now so I don't know whether I will find the time to write an Excel script to parse the file right now.

FWIW, I have several external applications that I've written to keep track of my data, especially the MoorMap data, but they are compiled executables and I don't promote the use of third party executables for security reasons so I will not publish them.

Export to Excel

I would really like a offline program, and combining accounts would be great, but right now I am trying to clean up my toons on all my servers to remove duplicates of cosmetic items and house items and who knows what else, but I can't parse your file into Excel, without a lot of editing to clean out all the extra parts. NOt a real advanced Excel user, and not a Access user at all.

Any chance we could get a Excel format, or a better delimited file.

Used your program from day 1, first thing I add, and I have to thank you for your time and effort, and to keep it up to date. I would be lost in crafting without it

In the settings dialog (click the gears icon) there is a setting for "Load Minimized" (or "Charge Minimise" for FR or "minimiert laden" for DE).

Well, that led me on a merry wild goose chase. Turns out that bug was fixed in a prior version that somehow never got released. Once I get a chance to test the current version, I can get that bug fix published in a day or so.

EDIT:
Ver. 3.05 is now available. This should eliminate the bug when accessing the Vault, but existing Vault inventories may be out of sync until you log in each character and access each of their vaults (with the plugin loaded) to refresh each character's data. Don't forget to access Shared Storage on at least one character to get it in sync as well.

Getting error message each time I open up vault

I also am having an issue that it shows that I have Crystal of rememberances in my vault but I do not.

Not sure what you need me to do but I will check back later on today/tomorrow .

Sounds like you've found a bug. It would be helpful to know more about the circumstances. For instance, when you noticed the discrepancy was it the current character or were you looking at an alt. Also it would have helped to know if the discrepancy would have gone away by logging the character back in (if it was not the current character). It would also have helped to have a copy of the .plugindata file to verify what item(s) were causing the discrepancy. Alas, if you already deleted the data it is too late to try examine it. If you come across that same situation again, please let me know before deleting the data.

Capacity 124/120

I just noticed that one of my characters is showing 124/120 for there bag space and their vault is 130/120.

To fix it, I deleted that characters data.
With that said, so what did I do to cause this issue? I just want to try and avoid it in the future.

There used to be a way with the old lorebook, but that is no longer available. Unfortunately, directly accessing the .dat files without permission is a EULA violation and so far Turbine has not granted such permission.

That said, there is no reason you can't access the .plugindata files to view them outside the game (just no images). I have a little program that I use for viewing and even editing .plugindata files when I am working on plugins (not suitable for publishing, just a quick utility app but still handy).

Item database

Hi there,
Probably not the correct place to post this but going to anywhere cause I am not sure where to put this.
With my 2 main accounts and a bunch of f2p I have a ton of storage. I was thinking about writing a little tool (that would run outside of LOTRO) that could scan the directories and consolidate the inventory information into one spot. I was curious if there is anyway to access the item database (icons/tooltips) from out side of lotro?

I am in the galtrev crafting hall for me to get it reload the vault information I had to leave the crafting hall and come back in. Then it reloaded the vault information the the light hides it was showing for my characters was gone.

I am going to try out keeping it loaded all the time. I just have a lot of stuff across many characters .

This sounds like an issue with the way you are using it. There is a limitation on the Lua API that only exposes the Vault data when your character has accessed a vault-keeper and is still in range of the vault-keeper. So, if you don't have the plugin loaded when you access the vault, it will get out of synch. However, as soon as you access a vault-keeper with the plugin loaded it should re-synch the vault contents for that character. Note, accessing a vault-keeper only exposes the vault data for that character or shared storage, not other characters' personal vaults. If you don't want to keep the plugin loaded all the time (I would recommend always keeping it loaded for this very reason) then you should at least load the plugin whenever you access a vault-keeper in order to keep the vault info synchronized. The same is true for shared storage at the vault-keeper, not just personal vaults.

Having issue with inventory (Maybe the way I am doing it)

Hi -
When I look at my Vault inventory it shows that I have 55 light hides in my vault. However when I look in my vault there are no light hides? Any thoughts on this ?

Is there a way to refresh items in my vault versus what is in the inventory listing?

BTW I do not load the inventory program each time I login. I am only loading it when I need to find something. Also I am loading it once a week when I swap through all my characters to check mail/do my crafting patterns.

Yes and no. The plugin system does not natively allow for sharing data across accounts - the folder structure prevents .plugindata files from one account from being accessed by another. The data is separated in Account/Server/Character levels.

That said, there is a way around this for some operating systems but it has a significant limitation. Mac/Linux and Windows Vista or higher operating systems support Symbolic Links (use Google to research how to set up a Symbolic Link for your OS) which can be used to create virtual paths so that you can point one account's folder to another account's folder effectively saving and loading data for both accounts from one physical path. Unfortunately that will cause one major side effect, the "ALL" data (or any Account level data) will be overwritten by whichever account is accessed most recently. This can have serious negative effects for any plugin that stores its settings or data at the Account level as it will get overwritten every time you switch accounts. I personally don't feel it is worth the hassle and don't recommend using Symbolic Links but it is possible as long as you are willing to put up with the downside. For instance, the Wallet plugin would probably have conniptions if you used Symbolic Links and ran both accounts at the same time - if you never run the accounts simultaneously there is less chance of overwriting/corrupting data.

I may of missed this, but I have multiple accounts and was curious if I can see character's inventory for the account I am not logged into atm.
Looking at the ALL part or just the individual character.

I keep everything it seems lol. So trying to find stuff across my 2 founder accounts or across my 4 f2p accounts can be very difficult some times.
So is this a function of the plugin already or is it something that could be an option?
