====={ Delving Hills LOTRO UI Skin }=====
Made for The Lord of the Rings Online Book 13 by Turbine
Version 1.01, 30 May 2008
Created by "Wicked Mouse"
The name "Delving Hills" given to this skin refers to the Shire obviously, as this skin tries to emit the homely athmosphere from the Shire Folk.
==============={ v1.01 }=================
Date: 30 May 2008
Added:
- Right-hand tabs of the gear section in Character Journal
- The background wood of Outfitting 1 and 2
- Forochel bookmark at the Deed Log/Accomplishment Book
- Progress bar
- Quest Log graphics
Changed:
- Hope 5/6 glow inside the ring lowered a little bit for visibility reasons
==============={ v1.0 }==================
Date: 4 April 2008
Skin is containing all most obvious graphics that can be changed at this point:
- Social Panel
- Crafting Panel
- Character Journal
- Main Bar, with a minibar alternative (instructions below)
- Accomplishments/Deed Book
- Radar/Minimap
- By this also: Bags, Options Panel
- Player/Enemy Vitals
- ..and probably other things I cannot think of right now.
Obviously I'm planning to keep it a bit up to date and tweak it here and there in the future.
==========={ User Agreement }============
(Last revised 10/05/2007)
If you use any of my work, all I ask for is clear acknowledgement of it in any and all of your descriptions and ReadMe files, that's not much to ask is it?
1. You agree to this agreement by downloading and using any and all files and intellectual property included in this software package.
2. You agree to NOT discredit any author of any or all of their original software included be it code, graphics, any other assets or intellectual property.
3. You agree to NOT hold any author responsible for any damage, data loss or any problems caused directly or indirectly by this software.
4. You agree to NOT use any material included for monetary gain, as it is against Turbine's EULA agreement and it is NOT your right to make money off of other author's work.
5. You may redistribute any and all files contained in this package ONLY if they remain unmodified, this user agreement is included and proper credit to any and all authors is given.
6. You may modify and redistribute any and all files contained in this compilation ONLY with the expressed written permission of any and all respective authors.
7. If you do not agree to any of the points above then delete any and all files included in this package as well as past and future versions, by doing this you are agreeing to NOT use, modify and redistribute any and all material that is a part of this package for any purpose.
Translation: Do not take my work, use it to make a new skin and then do nothing to acknowledge the use of my work. While it is very flattering to see my work used throughout many other themes and many of you actually acknowledge it in your descriptions (thanks!), it is quite annoying and discouraging to find "new" skins using my work without a single mention of doing so and in some cases even bragging about all original work made from scratch, please do not do this, all it does is detract me from releasing updates more often.
==========={ Installation }==============
1. Exit the game (the included XML file only gets loaded at start-up)
2. Open the ZIP file containing all the UI Skin files (where you got this readme from!)
3. Extract all the files from the ZIP file making sure the option to "use folder names" is enabled; The folder on your computer you should select as the destination will be: ..\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\
4. If Extracted correctly you should now have the following folder path:
..\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins\Delving Hills\
5. All images and the skin definition will be inside their respective folder if extracted properly.
6. Launch the game
7. Once in-game, go to OPTIONS then choose "UI Settings" from the menu on the right, once there scroll down to just above the new UI scale sliders to the UI Settings page and you will find a dropdown list where you can choose the UI Skin to use for that character.
8. Enjoy!
Minibar instructions:
The graphic files have been put into /mainbar-small/
- Replace the SkinDefinition.xml with SkinDefinition-small.xml by renaming them (for example rename SkinDefinition.xml into SkinDefinition-ORIGINAL.xml and then SkinDefinition-small.xml into SkinDefinition.xml). Or optionally make an entire new skin directory to be able to switch quickly/easily between the two versions.
- In case of a different screen resolution than 1600x1200, on which I changed the code, the minibar may have a weird position. On line 15 you see the following:
<Element ID="ToolbarField" X="286" Y="1090" Width="1024" Height="110"> <!-- change the X and Y values to reposition for a different screen resolution. 0,0 being top left of the screen.-->
Change the values of X and Y to reposition it. The higher the value of X, the more to the right. The higher the value of Y, the more down it goes.

Minibar width?
Umm I'm trying to get it configed with the minibar, and I know the main bar is 1024 pixels wide, but how wide is the minibar?
NEVERMIND: It's the same as the mainbar... sorry for a stupid comment.

Hello Kaltzan
An UI skin you do not put in the program folder but in the My Documents folder That's also the place where screenshots and game settings are saved
So it should be: ...\My Documents\The Lord Of The Rings Online\ui\skins\Delving Hills

Hello there. I think your UI mod is great! ...There's only one thing. I can't use it .
I extract everything into the right folders, but when I go into LotRO and go to the drop-down menu, your UI isn't there!
This is what the file path looks like:
My Computer/Local Disk D/Program Files/Turbine/Lord of the Rings Online/ui/skins/Delving Fields
Could you please help me to resolve this issue?
Thanks,
Kaltzan.

Love it!
This is most definately the best, cutest, and most Hobbit-like of any of the uis so far. I laughed so hard when I noticed the attack button effect! Absolutely wonderful! The only thing I might suggest doing would be a zip to extract for the changes to make it the minibar. That way we don't risk screwing everything up by changing the code itself. Just a thought.
P.S. Not sure who to submit this too but the thumbs up and thumbs down icons are the opposite of how they should be. lol.

I so much love this UI skin, all the small details, everything! (specilly the auto attack mode, its just brilliant )
The only thing I can find bit annoying is when you're in an area with hope (like rivendell for example), then you cant se yourself or others in your fellow/raids arrows on the minimap, cause of the light hope circle in it. (Same with nodes and town directions) otherwise, awesome! Well done

Great UI. This is one of the best ones I've seen made. I love it and will be using it for a long time on my hobbit minstrel. Gives me a little piece of the Shire when I'm roaming across Middle Earth. Thanks.

I just registered to say thank you. I downloaded this skin (my first) after somebody put a link up on the Sanctuary forum.
It is fantastic. I was a little concerned over sizing as I have my resolution set higher than your 'read me' states, but it was fine when I loaded it up.
Well done, on an excellent job keep up the good work.
Thanks,
Bado

I deleted the post because I thought maybe I did something wrong. I double-checked and found that I didn't. It is a problem with the mini version being off-center. I looked at your instructions on how to resolve it and my brain proceded to short circuit. I have no experience with the code to this and I'm not certain of where to make these adjustments.
I think for now I'll stick with the full version for my hobbit character and wait for your next beta to try again. If you would like to send me a new skin definition to try out, I would be more than happy to give it a try for you.

The XP bar portion of it touches the extreme right side of the screen. Could this be because the interface was optimized for a 1600 display and not 1280?
|
Thanks for testing it on a different resolution. It's a pity that the position of the main bar (aka "letterbox") is determined by x and y, starting from the top left corner. So if someone is using a different resolution it gets shifted.
I indeed positioned it for my own resolution 1600x1200.
I left this in the code to explain it a bit:
<!-- change the X and Y values to reposition for a different screen resolution. 0,0 being top left of the screen.-->
The top left pixel of the main bar is the "key" pixel. As the bar is 1024 width and 110 height, you need to deduct 110 from top (but I guess it cannot get off screen, so that doesn't really matter here), and your screen resolution minus 1024, devided by 2 for the horizontal coords.
So the X coord for you should be something like: (1280 - 1024) / 2 = 256 / 2 = 128. Maybe it's 2 or 3 pixels off, if your docked bars are still centered, but on your screenshot they strangely seem to follow the main bar =).
Let me know if you still got questions
EDIT: ow you seem to have deleted your post already, Elvite ..guess you figured it out already

Hello Elvite
Thanks for the kind words. I had the same problem when I first played the champion on a different server, where I normally play, and I had the VERY same problem you are pointing out. Like "what the..?", on my hunter all was fine, right? So I logged back to my hunter, where I had the skin still enabled, and evrything seemed fine (same screen resolution, same settings, etc). So I get back to the champion.. and.. "what the..?" .. everything is fine!
So I'd suggest: keep the skin applied, exit the game and log back in. I got the idea it's server side or something. Or at least partially.. Please try that. The position seems fine on your screen. So apart from that there should be no difference beteen my screen and yours.
Please report back from what I suggested
Oh and btw.. what you said: "when I use the original files, I get the mini bar". You're correct. I left a bit of code uncorrected:
<Mapping ArtAssetID="LetterBoxBottom" FileName="mainbar-small\letterbox_bottom.tga"></Mapping>
It says.. while it should be:
<Mapping ArtAssetID="LetterBoxBottom" FileName="mainbar\letterbox_bottom.tga"></Mapping>
So this goes for the skindefinition that is without all the repositioning and resizing stuff in it.
Sorry about that!

Mr. Wicked Mouse,
Love what you have done. You are truly a rising talent to keep an eye on. When I tried your 0.97 beta, I had no discernable problems. I am a big fan of minimalized main bars and when I saw you had done this in the new 0.98 beta, I was happy to see it as your interface is among my favorites next to LedMirage's stuff.
I am having problems with the new beta, however. I run the game at a resolution of 1280x1024. I do not know how much that factors into things, but when I run your latest beta without altering any files, (like the SkinDefinition file), the Main Bar graphics appear to be the mini version.
(click on image for full screen version)
When I follow your directions to enable the mini version, (by renaming the SkinDefinition-small file and renaming the original file), the bag and option icons remain in their default position and are not moved under the shingles as intended.
(click on image for full screen version)
Thanks again for your hard work. Hoping this isn't too hard to fix.
