Description
Dwamur: Warden Indicator was created by MrJackDaw. He has no time to maintain it, and so I am taking on maintenance.

WI 48.2 uploaded with fixes for mastery skills.

NOTE: If you wish to help with stance support, please contact me and update the Excel spreadsheet in the packet. Only Determination Stance is currently real, the other tabs are not correct. Send the updated Excel sheet back, and we can look at adding in those stances.

Warden Indicator
The story...
I have a terrible memory, but love the warden class. Given how much time I can spend playing lotro at the moment I neeeded some help with Gambits. This is my attempt at creating a plugin to aid that ambition!
What does it do?
This plugin creates an invisible frame that contains details of all the gambits you know.

As soon as you keypress or click either spear, shield or shout the frame appears showing all the gambits that can now be accessed, but with that icon removed. This filter continues to be applied as you press keys. When you hit the gambit key it resets.
Slash Commands
/WI
Shows help
/WI all
Displays all Gambits (filters first)
/WI rev
Reverse the fill; top-to-bottom instead of bottom-to-top
/WI options
Show the option window
/WI OOC
Show the frame even when Out Of Combat - toggle. Will even react to keys!
/WI fix
Fixes the position of gambits, so instead of a steadily decreasing list they stay in position... try it and see!

Limitations
  • Mouse visibility is an issue when targeting as a tank.
  • I only have a level 33 Warden and so can't test the high level abilities. Well, not an unavoidable issue, but give me time to level!
NOTE: The purpose of this plugin is to indicate what you might go for - it is really a training program.
Known Bugs:
Some descriptions may be faulty, but not massively so. For example; I cannot detect traits etc. that change the number of targets.

Hey, perhaps you can help me, I was having problems getting the warden ease plugin to work and I'm also having the same problem with this one as well.

here is the error i get:

plugins/deusdictum/ui/dragbar.lua:7: Unable to resolve package "Turbine.Utils"

plugins/JackdawPlugins/WardenIndicator/Main.lua:8: Failed to import package
"Deusdictum.UI.Dragbar"

any help would be great :]

Cylver - Certain bugs are unavoidable - in fact I have avoided all I know of! For example; I can't trap skills as they are used, only keypresses. Now, it works for me as I am quite a slow presser, but I can imagine someone who is quicker than me having trouble with it registering a skill twice. The only thing I can think of there is to not allow the same skill twice in a row - but there are three gambits that use that!

If you have found anything else please report it here!

thesomberlain - If you go to DragBar there are instructions there on which lines to change to fix it. Basically open up the file with notepad and delete any lines that bug.

I can understand your point about the double key presses.

Unfortunately, it's just too easy to break the flow with an extra key press, or if your character gets stunned it still registers the hit on the plugin.

I'm not sure what is, or even if there is a solution, I hope there is though since this would be a really handy plugin if it worked well.

Sadly, at the moment there is no way to detect the actual proc of the skill - that I know of anyway! If we could somehow monitor the combat log then it could be done BUT they won't let us do that and are unlikely to as Turbine don't want to be flooded with threat and dps meters. Quite right too!

So, although it is broken it does work - I use it as an inidcator only (hence the name) as I learn the skills, and it serves as a handy reminder when I log back in, especially using /WI all to review before the start of a session.

Anyway, thanks for the comment and hopefully new changes will help me improve it sometime in the dim and distant future...

Sounds just like what we need! There are two other Warden help add-ons, but this one sounds like it's gonna be the best when all of it's problems are ironed out.

I'll try it, though I can remember most of my gambits easily, but you never know when you might not know.

Big update on the SVN - I will test over the next few days. Those feeling brave can download it from there.

As a teaser;

  • Save on moved disabled - caused problems with positioning.
  • Introduced Save command.
  • Add a toggle to always show the frame, so planning is extended for those who need it.
  • Add a selection module - so only the Gambits the player wants displayed are
  • Set to save on unload, or when option window is closed
  • Add all options to the option dialogue - including length of frame

Looks to be a great addon so far. I think it is going to be very useful.

I had quite a bit of trouble at first because the indicators were all out of whack.
Took me a while to realize that initiating combat with spear/shield/fist will not register with the addon. Can this be remedied? If not, you may want to note it in the issues section.

Now there is interesting!

I generally start combat with a Javelin so hadn't noticed!

For now, if it doesn't irritate you too much, a /WI OOC would set the display to always visible and will allow you to start combat with 1,2,3.

I think it is due to the way the "in-combat" flag is set by turbine. Hmmm... how can I get round this... thinking... thinking...

EVerything is working great for me! just a suggestion and a request - any possibility to make the /WI ALL stick so that it can stay up until you type it out? I find that I use the /WI ALL quite often and it would be great to be able to keep it open

EDIT: scratch that...just reloaded the plugin and I got whatI thought you explained. thanks a lot!

Simple: not working

I tried this addon today....and nothing. It loads, i can see icons if i move the gambit bar, redefined keys (/wi option can be started)... ,but if i try shield, or spear or shout...nothing happens ...only i kill mob)....but there is no gambit "suggestion". /wi all does not show gambits. Any other has this problem?
Comments: Finally i made it...there is a positioning problem with the addon and besides if U move the gambit bar to another location, the icons remains in the SAME position as were before.

But main problem to me, that i have bad memory too and i wanted an addon that shows which key to press next to achive heal, threat etc. Instead this show the gambit icon which can be achieved. If i know the icon what i want to use it does not help me to find out which keys to press)

So this is a great job, but useless for me.

Hmmm... Please try this;
  • Go to a quiet area and type /WI OOC.
  • Try pressing 1,2,3 gambit (or whatever keys you normally use!)
  • See if it works properly now!

Love the new OOC option!
Much easier to plan my next moves.

Is there any way to keep the icons in a fixed location instead of having them slide down as keys are pressed?
