Version 2.3a New Vitals

Description
Description:

A wood and ivy inspired interface with 14 bottom bar configurations to fit almost any ui placement preference/screen size. Includes new movable bottom bars, as well as a left and right minimalist style.

Revision History:

Version 2.4 09/05/2007 - "PixelFix!" - Corrected misaligned level numbers on the vitals bars.

Corrected errant "eye" overlays on elite/signature vitals displays.

Added a few more box items with proper theme styling.

Version 2.3a 08/24/2007 - Corrected wrong "silver box" images. The gold
box frames were to be in a different release...

Version 2.3 08/23/2007 - Major Revision! With the release of Book 10, alot of assets (images) in the UI were opened up for modification. This release has over 50 new modifications, some of the highlights:

NEW Character, Target, Pet, and Escort vitals bars - now bringing the "wood" feel to a majority of the interface!

NEW "Gold" progress bars and various box outlines.

NEW "Low Res" Icons (player and target bar graphics)

ALT of work went into this release, thanks again for all of your votes and comments, ingame and out!

*Special Note: Some of the older "legacy" variations are now moved to their own archive! I will be updating these as well. This had to take place because with the new asset releases, file sizes for this suite (would) get quite large and eventually, surpass the file size limit here. Look for "Fenir Wood Legacy" if those are more to your liking!

Version 2.2 07/19/2007 - "Pixelfix!" (TM) - The small 1 pixel "ghosts" above the movable bars are gone. Dead. Kaput...

Version 2.1a 06/28/2007 - "Pixelfix!" (TM) - Corrected the wiggling combat eye graphic.

Version 2.1 06/26/2007 - ALOT of new things!

Added a new "in combat" representation of Sauron's Eye to remove the last remnant of other author's piecework. Alot of work went into this release, I hope you all enjoy it. (I'm horseless and almost level 40 at this point! Maybe I should start taking those donations... LOL!)

Added a new movable "centered" version of the minimalist bar- "Fenir Wood MovC".

The original "toy" "Fenir Wood Mov" is there to show you how to think outside the box as far as system buttons go.

Added new movable "right" and "left" versions of the above with the combat indicator on top to further open up screen real estate - "Fenir Wood MovR" and "Fenir Wood MovL" respectively.

Due to issues with not being able to "reload" the UI, you will have to restart the client again after selecting these styles.

See below for instructions, the only movable bars are the ones listed above. (Each style's SkinDefinition.xml also has detailed instructions inside)

Instructions: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

"Fenir Wood Mov" "Fenir Wood MovL"

Open the SkinDefinition.xml in Notepad (or your favorite editor) and look
for the instructions a few lines down regarding modifying this file.

You will see:

<!-- Edit the line below "ToolbarField" ONLY and set the Y="###" to your screen height size minus 95 -->
<!-- In this case my screen size is 1440 X 900; 900 minus 90 equals 810 -->
<!-- You can play with the X and Y Values but altering anything else is NOT recommended! -->

<Element ID="ToolbarField" X="5" Y="810" Width="516" Height="90" Detach="1">

<!-- Do NOT edit anything below this line! -->

Edit the value above using the calculation I set above and save it. (Make sure you save it as xml, NOT txt!

If you want to change the left to right positioning, thats the "X" value.

"Fenir Wood MovR"

Same as above, but you MUST also set the "X" value. It's a little trickier.
My example from the xml file:

<!-- Edit the line below "ToolbarField" ONLY and set the Y="###" to your screen height size minus 145 -->
<!-- In this case my screen size is 1280 X 768; 768 minus 145 equals 623 -->
<!-- Next set the X="###" to your screen width size minus 480 -->

<!-- In this case my screen size is 1280 X 768; 1280 minus 480 equals 800 -->
<!-- You can play with the X and Y Values but altering anything else is NOT recommended! -->

<Element ID="ToolbarField" X="800" Y="623" Width="480" Height="145" Detach="1">

Its not hard if you think about it, just remember to restart the game after selecting one of these for the changes to take effect.

The remaining styles in the package require no special modification to the files.

Package Installation:

Exit the game.

Extract all the files from the ZIP file making sure the option to "use folder names" is enabled; The folder on your computer you should select as the destination will be: ..\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\

You should see: ..\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\
\ui\skins\Fenir Compact Wood

And Also: ..\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\
\ui\skins\Fenir Wood

And so on...

Launch the game

Once in-game, go to OPTIONS then choose "UI Settings" from the menu on the right, once there scroll all the way down to the bottom of the UI Settings page and you will find a dropdown list where you can choose the UI Skin to use for that character.

Notes:

Thanks to all for the support and in game feedback, I'm glad you all like the work. I cant wait till we get more id's/assets to mess with!

Thanks for the responses. I get bored at work and the ui is a nice diversion
for a few hours. (So much for productivity... wait, I'm the boss... Nevermind...)

I just have to remember to quit working on so many versions at the same time. All the "a" releases are "oopsies" I dont catch until I get home; Ive got most of the assets (unreleased by turbine) done for these waiting on them to be usable in the code...

I was working on the default but decided its best to let someone else do it since I cant stand the "elfy smurfy" look of it- Chances are in October or November, Turbine is going to make any work done on it kinda obsolete.

October isnt far away...

I'm having trouble with this skin. I'm pretty new to changing the UI of LoTRO so if you guys could help me that would be awesome.

How did you get it to look like the bars in the screen "New MOVABLE Bottom Bar" I downloaded the package, but I don't know which set I should use.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you

It's the Fenir Wood Mov style you want I think. Read the instructions above in the description and installation notes. Just remember that if you select any of the MOV styles, you will need to restart the game to use them; Frosty said they were working on a refresh feature if I remember correctly.

Edit: Okay, I believe that I have now confirmed that there are missing graphics from the MovL folder structure. I downloaded a fresh copy and installed it and chose movl as the skin, but it doesn't show up right at all, it's main menu box is missing the main menu, social, crafting etc buttons.

I then copy all the files in the mov/buttons folder to the /movl/buttons folder and the images then show up.

So if Im correct, you might want to check the zip file that you have added to ensure that no images are missing.

Other than that, great skin so far.

Interestingly enough, I compared my install to the graphics and they all show up just like the pics... MovL, MovC, and MovR are minimalistic and aren't supposed to display buttons according to the images...

*shrugs* If you get them, cool.

That is correct: you arent supposed to see the bags or system buttons because the movl,movr, and movc werent made to show them in the first place. Thanks for jumping in there Kha, was real late last night and I was busy getting my horse, FINALLY!

Just a note for those that don't know, if you quit the game and it goes to the system tray, you will need to exit it off of the system tray before changes appear in the game.

This had me going in circles trying to figure our why the main menu bar wasn't moving. I finally realized that even though I had quit the game it was still in my system tray, and the changes that I was making to the skins xml file wasn't being shown in the game. Once I exited the game from my windows system tray the changes would appear each time.
